The Mausoleum is a huge classical square in a beautiful park with excellent views of Ankara. The Ataturk memorabilia are interesting and the changing of the guards is fun to watch.
For the Anatolian Museum, one can take the bus on Ataturk Blvd. north to the equestrian statue at Ulus, and then walk east up the hill to the museum of Anatolian Culture (half closed in early 2013). From there one can walk back down the hill to the Ulus metro station for the ride out to the Ataturk Mausoleum, which is a walk up the hill from the Tandogan metro station.
There is a shuttle bus for the elderly from the park entry to the mausoleum. Guards may want to inspect your passport and backpack on entry.
