Owner description: The foundations of this structure were laid by Galatians and eventually completed by the Romans. Located atop a hill in the old city, the area inside the citadel contains many fine examples of traditional architecture.

“The BEST Views of the City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

The Citadel itself is a broken down slum leftover that's worth the hike for the beautiful views of the city and the peace and quiet. Outside of that there's nothing else to see but garbage and to feel bad that people actually live among the rubbles and mounds of trash. Once you reach the top there is a single nice structure that has the flag of Turkey on it and that's all. There is absolutely no tourism to speak of. The Citadel gives you a dismal, stark contrast to the beauty on display of other, well maintained attractions because this is simply not one of them. Go if you're interested in seeing something real (not touristy) and want some photos of the wonderful views.

“Not Bad”

It could be a better place if they keep it more clean and try to make it more convenient for tourists.
