I happened to visit Ankara in the middle of student protests and despite that the staff and location never made me feel unsafe about my stay. The beds were well kept (staying in the top floor dorm) and while breakfast wasn't included, the kitchen area was a plus.

The best part was the laundry service, which only cost me 5 TL for a wash and dry. Talk about value.

I had a tough time searching for the hostel, but I'd say maybe because when I arrived, it was in the middle of the night. Checked in, and was not greeted as any hostel supposed to.

I'd expect a warmth greetings from the reception as we paid a lil bit expensive for an average hostel. The people are not friendly either.

The room: Smelly! The smell of someone smoked in the room was still there when I entered the room. Totally disappointed!

NO BREAKFAST! NO TOURING TRIP!

Such a waste of money!

It's better to go to some B&B that offers better with the same price.

so the hostel is recommended in the guide books and has good reviews. After a long journey we arrive there a few weeks ago. The hostel is in an OK location and was not too difficult to find. Ankara is a fairly dull city and does not have much going for it so its location is okay considering. We arrived to be met by a grumpy unhelpful women who was a bit rude. Some how we annoyed her checking in as a groups. Room looked OK but then realised it was dirty with dirt down the side of the bed, stains on the bedding and a broken balcony door. It was located right next to the toilets with paper thin walls so I got to enjoy the associated noises while trying to sleep. The security is bad with doors with a simple lock that provides no security and can easily be forced open. It says 24hrs CCTV however this was off or not working as the lack of the red ir sensors gave that away. The balcony door does not lock so you have to block it with beds and tables. The room is advertised as a garden view but all is could see was a concrete wall. The garden that is there is more concrete and posted plants. The website says breakfast included but when we asked we were told there was no breakfast.

The place also has a health problem as the toilets don't take loo paper and so you have to use a bin. Fine but it was always overflowing with toilet paper and other nasty things. Fine have a lid on the bin but this was an open bin and overflowing with used bits. It was just horrible and frankly with a global user base a health hazard. The shower was also broken and falling off the wall. It was mouldy and floods. All together just what you want. Not. if you can pay a bit more and stay somewhere nice. Don't stay here.

staff seem more concerned with sitting outside and chatting than doing their jobs. Check in consists of them giving you a key. no explaination of their services or any help. The door handles broke off the bathroom doors just by turning it. The shower leaked all over the floor. there was smelly cleaning equipment stashed in the corner. The kitchen smelled rotten.the rooms were okay. Tidy and had plenty of wardrobe space.

Very clean and nice.

Staff is very helpful, especially, Volkan. He treats the guests like an old friend and is very kind to everyone arround. And it seems he loves his job. That makes your stay really brilliant.

Whats is very important in Ankara, staff here speaks English. Even in big hotels we coudn't find a pesonell who does.

Also I like very much little funny signs on the walls.

First of all located in the heart of Ankara, kizilay square and you can easily access around the city by bus, metro and eyerywhere! the hostel is a friendly and nice flat with a yard to sit arround with other guests. I stayed in the mixed dorm which was on the ground floor and clean. Staff gave me guide about the addresses I asked and called to the office and took the address and was very helpful to me.

Room Tip: Easy Access to city center, restaurants, shopping, ....

I had stayed there for 4 nights. the worst thing I encountered is noise which is from everywhere until midnight. plus the bad quality of mattress, I didn't even have a good sleep during my Ankara stay.

Toilet is clean but it is cleaned once per day, so you may see some stain before clean.

Counter staffs are all university students, so I can communicate with them with English freely which is very helpful in Ankara.

Location wise, it is a little bit far away from old castle area but I don't treat it as a disadvantage: There is only stone throwing distance from Kolej metro station.

All furnitures and decorations are all the way from IKEA which are pretty good for me.

In a word, it is suitable for budget young backpackers.
