“Great Filipino food and comfortable ambiance”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

A wonderful spot for filipino/spanish dishes which are either challenging to prepare at home, or hard to find in most restaurants. Brings together many dishes reminiscent of old family recipes that had been passed on through many generations. An old spanish "ancestral home" concept provides a very comfortable and casual ambiance, especially for dinner. Service improves with each visit with no major problems to-date. Great for family dinners, and special occasions wtih a small group of close friends. The place can get crowded easily, so I find it a routine to drop by an hour or two before the visit (whenever possible) to reserve a table. Staff are generally friendly and clearly strive to improve their service. In-house Wi-Fi would be a nice addition to this place.

“Excellent Food Makes Up For The Mediocre Service”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

One of my default go to places when I am craving for authentic Filipino dishes.

Ordering is difficult only because the place is probably undermanned but the kitchen seems to be well organized because they serve the food within a decent time range.

In this particular visit didn't like how the binukadkad na pla pla looked and sent the dish back and was promptly changed and replaced with a much better (more freshly fried, the first one seemed to have been cooked earlier and just being served, probably someone cancelled an order) looking specimen. The way they handled the request defused what could have been a nasty situation.

Still love eating here because nothing beats eating the food you grew up loving,

A word of caution if you are ordering morcon and you are expecting the beef tied deep fried dish with a whole egg in it then you will probably be surprised that what they call morcon is more of a beef embutido.

“Poor service, not ready for serving crab!”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

We went there at an off-peak time and I do believe the servers thought it was their break (even though there were at least two other tables occupied when we arrived). It was quite hard to get their attention, and even when we managed to signal a waitress she was so distracted as she stood by my table that when my mom ordered she didn't notice anything. My mom had to call her attention and repeat our order. Seriously, how rude can you get?

We ordered a gambas appetizer, their new coconut milk crab, and their new vegetable special. The gambas was tiny! Six pieces of shrimp in a shallow bowl, with garlic flakes and coconut oil. I'm not sure whether it was an appetizer for one person.

Our crab and veggies arrived and unfortunately, they had none of the little crab forks restaurants have to scrape meat out of claws and legs and all the other little crevices found in crabs, particularly thin crabs such as the one served to us. The result was that a significant amount of meat was left lurking within the crab and we were still hungry.

What made matters worse is that the waiters and waitresses fell over their feel in accommodating a large table that came in as we were mid-meal. So we were not good enough to care for, but for these people you station a waiter to literally stand by and wait for them to be ready for their order?

I won't be back. I've read the other reviews that say it's a must-try place for balikbayans and foreigners, but I'm sorry, there are many better Filipino cuisine places around Metro Manila with much higher standards of service.

“ABE - Traditional Filipino Delicacy”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

Food taste great. One of the best filipino restaurant ive been. A bit compact thou regarding table and seat arrangements. Their menu is a bit pricey but heck it really pays for its price. Their karekare is superb but my all time favorite their is their tamarind shake, highly recommended!
