“A stone throw away from everything you need.”
Reviewed January 30, 2013 via mobile

The location of Eastwood Richmonde Hotel is tops since it is inside Eastwood City where you can find restos, bars, shops, and movie houses so u need not go far. I was quite disappointed with the rooms though because since it is a fairly new hotel (2010), I expected a more modern feel. The room we got was a Superior Room. The elevators were kinda tricky since you need to insert a card to go up and down to your destination. I appreciated it for its security reasons despite the unusual elevators because our kids were in a 1-br suite on a different floor. Between the two Richmonde Hotels (Eastwood and Ortigas), I prefer Ortigas even though its location is not as convenient as the one at Eastwood.

Overall pleasantly surprised. We needed a place to stay in the area (we usually stay nearer the airport). The hotel is only a few years old but already shows age (construction of not too good quality I guess similar to the entire Eastwood development). It only covers the top 10 floors. We stayed (4 nights) in a corner suite on the 32nd floor. Reception and restaurant are excellent. Imprssed also with the excellent housekeeping responses to special requests and the efficient room service. Room itself is small but adequately equipped with decent bathroom and plenty water pressure. Shame of the split AC units (compressor is located hidden under a cover behind a window grille inside each room), making it fairly noisy when they come on.... Lifts are OK when there is nothing going on the second floor (lots of parties/weddings, something the hotel seems to specialize in), but expect a fairly long wait to get to the rooms on the top floors when the parties are in full swing. At such times there is a definite lack of adequate lift capacity.
Plenty of activities just outside as part of the Eastwood residences. Something going on almost every evening in the Plaza. Plenty of inexpensive restaurants/bars. Eastwood seems to cater to the lower middle class local. Lots of the condo buildings seem largely empty (units might be sold but not occupied on a permanent basis), so a lot of day visitors descending on Eastwood shopping area. Surprisingly difficult to get Taxi... hotel staff has to literally move on the road in front and wave a taxi down which are not plying this road in abundance due absence of hotel tourists (this hotel is the only one in the entire development. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, the hotel definitely merits its star rating.

The hotel is a great choice as it is near to my office. The hotel staffs r polite but service can be quite slow. Hotel taxi is more expensive but definitely safer and more comfortable therefore I use it to travel around most of the time. Breakfast choice is limited n average...
Air con in the room is randomly loud n can be quite disturbing to light sleeper. Room service is good n pretty fast!
Wifi is bad... Connection can't seems to work most of the time and it can hook to one device at a time only. And that's ridiculous!!
Everyone for business definitely have a lap top n a smart phone... So a business hotel like this have to change n improve in service! Small details affect...
The Spa is good n value for money.
One plus point is the surrounding! Once u r back from work, all that u need is within the safe compound. Supermarket, wide variety of restaurant, shopping mall and salons!
Great choice for business! (If the wifi problem is solved)

I have chosen to stay at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel because of its proxmity to my office. I stayed there for 5 nights and had a deluxe room on the 33rd floor. The room was spacious and the view was spectacular. What did not impress me was the room was without a safe deposit box. It was only fixed upon my request. I would like to think this was an isolated incident. The WiFi was down the day I checked in. It was not fixed until the next day. A caution to all business travellers, you can only log on to one device at any one time in your room. It was inconvenient and I would expect a business hotel to do better that. Kudos to the staff at Eastwood Cafe for their great customer service. They took the effort to address me by my last name at breakfast.

Dear DawnTan,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing with us your experience through this review.

We sincerely apologize that your in-room safe and wi-fi access were not in working condition when you checked-in. Our standard is to check all amenities and facilities in our guest rooms and ensure these are complete and functioning properly prior to guests’ arrival. We regret that we missed out on your room. We have reiterated to our Housekeeping team the importance of being thorough to avoid similar incidents from happening again. As for the wi-fi connection problem, unfortunately, this was caused by an unexpected glitch in our provider’s system which has already been addressed.

We appreciate your kind words regarding the service of our Eastwood Cafe team. We do try our very best to please.

On your next trip to Manila, we hope that you will allow us to be your home again. We, the management and staff, look forward to welcoming you back.

Sincerely,
Annie Dioso

This is just one of two hotels (at least the only ones I can think of) in the metro that is adjacent to a shopping mall, and the only one that has a one-bedroom suite. The one-bedroom suite is of utmost priority as we were checking-in with our son's yaya (nanny). :-) We have always enjoyed walking in and around the Eastwood Mall.

We would assume that all one-bedroom suites are corner rooms. Ours had a view of the park/fountain-- very nice view. This was requested as we didn't want a room facing the Marikina River.

Our room had elegant and simple furniture and colors. The biggest disappointment though was having a mere queen-sized bed and not the expected king. It IS, after all, a suite room. Hmmmm. This is a first time for us to see a four (or is it five?)-star hotel without centralized air-conditioning. Had to adjust the two wall-mounted units' temperature frequently as it took a while for us to figure out how to change it. (There's this delay in the remote control's display.)

Have read so much criticisms about the slow and not-free internet connection. We paid P500 for the one-device-at-a-time 24-hour wi-fi. Connection was surprisingly fast. ;-) No complaints there.

Not a wide buffet breakfast selection offered at the brightly-lit Eastwood Cafe, perhaps due to space constraints. But they really could have made it a special one-- it was Christmas Day.

It was a hassle-free check-in and check-out for us. We took their advice (sent as phone message) of early settlement of our room charge. Paid for our room at 10 AM, and just had the room checked at exactly 12 noon by a room attendant.

Keep it up, Eastwood Richmonde. :-)

Booked a DeLuxe King room last New Year's eve, December 31, 2013, to celebrate the New Year's Eve countdown at Eastwood.

The room was clean and the bed was big to accommodate my Mom and myself. The airconditioning unit worked well, though it could get very cold sometimes. We did not hear any noise from outside despite the ongoing grand celebration around the hotel premises (perhaps, one reason was our being located on the 37th floor). But, sad to say, the room's view from the 37th was not that impressive because it faced portion of the city and the Marikina river. It was totally opposite to where the action was.

The amenities provided were great, both in the bedroom and the bathroom. I truly appreciate the hotel's idea of providing a bathroom scale, where you can monitor your weight after doing a lot of eating during the grand celebration. It is very seldom now that you can find a bathroom scale being provided in hotels, even in Asia and the U.S. This is a plus factor for Richmonde!

Overall, our stay was pleasant, though we were not able to use the pool and the gym due to limited time. Only downside is the view from the 37th floor.

Room Tip: Higher floors are much quieter.

I have stayed at this hotel 4 times on 4 searate trips to Manila. My 1st stay was great and my review reflects that. Since then I have been less enthused. The stadd is great, friendly and attentive. If you stay at this hotel, you need to be aware that although the hotel is new, it is heavily affected by the environment. None of the rooms have true central air conditioning. They all have externally mounted units with internal vents. The problem is that the walls by the units are not sealed, they are actully open where you can see light. Subsquently your room air is not that different from the outside air. So humidity, rain and smog are present. Due to the high humidity and room key controlled electrical systems, mold also tends to be present in the rooms. If you have any mold sensativities, this can negatively impact you room comfort and sleep.

The restaurant food is good, the internet is strong and fast. Gym is very nice, pool and spa are great additions.

Room Tip: Get a 1 room suite if you can

Dear Mr. Prayzur,

We are very grateful for your patronage and we appreciate your reviews.

We are also pleased that you find the service of our staff delightful and our food, wi-fi, and Fitness Center facilities to your liking.

Regarding your concerns about the air conditioning inside our guest rooms, we deeply regret if the A/C unit in the room you stayed in had gaps around its installation. This is definitely not the norm since we take care to seal and secure the room from outside elements. However, as you mentioned, the hotel is fairly new, but unfortunately, it has already been slightly affected by extreme weather conditions in the country. Because of this, we have already begun planning a maintenance and restoration project for the guest rooms to ensure the continued comfort, convenience, and safety of our guests.

We truly hope that this experience has not deterred you from returning to the hotel and giving us the chance to serve you again. Rest assured that we shall do our best to make your next visit as pleasant and comfortable as can be.

Sincerely yours,
Annie Dioso
