A very interesting tour around the walled city which is crammed with historical buildings and churches. I’d highly recommend getting a guide - we had guides on a bicycle and we sat in the sidecar. They were very knowledgeable and well worth the money - we could have probably done it diy, but to be honest even with the guides cycling us and focusing us on key areas, it took 3 hours.

This is a huge complex - spread over 64 hectares that you will take over a day if you want to visit every monument. So start early in the morning and hire a guide to tell you the the significance of every monument. Most of them are built as barracks or garrisons. Fort Santiago is the biggest and the best which now houses a museum explaining the story of Philipines independence. Highly recommended.

This was the Spanish heart of Manila. The walls are largely preserved. Some nice monuments inside. I took a bike ride with a guide who was knowledgeable and useful.

It’s great that they preserve the place. It’s a great place to bring foreign visitors, but start early. It’s too hot at noon.

Intramuros is one of the few reminders of the Spanish colonial past of Manila. It’s very well preserved. Nice walking and interesting places to visit like the cathedral. There are guided tours worth to experience.
