“A 'must see' if visiting manila”
Reviewed March 2, 2012

During WWII much of old-manila was destroyed. This old Spanish Fort precinct (and nearby cathedral) are the best of the few remaining links to the Spanish colonial era. Make sure you get a local tour guide at the gate (no need to book ahead). Take an umbrella because it can get hot, wet or both! Great for kids.

“Lots of walking”
Reviewed March 2, 2012

The place is intriguing, as it is the only place in Manila that is inside a massive wall. Walking around the area is a bit daunting, dirty and some area are a bit seedy, lots of small children trying to ask for alms, and will try to touch you.

Overall, the experience is good, specially walking along the walls.

“History personified”

This area is underrated.

San Augustin Church is its best feature. Feel the history and worship God at the same time.

“Fell the vibe the old”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

Intramuros is the oldest district and historic core of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Nicknamed the Walled City, the fortified city was the seat of government during the Spanish Colonial Period. Its name in Latin, intramuros, literally means "within the walls". If you have a free afternoon, you can walk around and see old buildings. Reminisce on how people might have lived in a Spanish Colonial era.
