“enjoyable morning”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

This cost P100 to get in .You then pay another P100 pesos if you want to visit a section where you can have your photo holding a bid, snake or monkey. There are also other people selling photos at P100 pesos a time with similar animals. We enjoyed our walk around the small zoo and got to mingle with the local people. The zoo is only a five minute tricycle ride (P50 pesos ) from the train station Qutirino and a five minute taxi ride (p100 pesos...make sure you insist taxi puts meter on) to th Harrison Plaz if you fancy shopping/meal after. Some of the animals such as the lions were in small cages which was upsetting but overall a pleasant visit.

“Needs a lot of work”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

I was simply appalled walking through this zoo. The place absolutely reeked upon entry. I don't know where the last reviewer visited, but this zoo is anything but neat and clean. Take a look at the pictures I posted and see for yourself if you would consider this place neat and clean. The animal enclosures for a lot of the animals are very small, and dirty. I saw lots of employees standing around talking, but no one addressing the pressing maintenance issues that are all through the zoo. I understand that Manila is a poor city, but that is not an excuse for the terrible state that the zoo is in. If the workers that I saw standing around were actually working the zoo could at least be clean. 100 peso's entry fee for Non-manila residents. (around $2 US.)

“Could be better”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

There were animals missing so I was a little disappointed after my last visit 5 years ago. There needs to be more thought about animal welfare and I am distrssed at the mental anguish of the lone elephant who walks in constant circles - a sure sign of distress.
The place is clean and tidy and there are a few food outlets but watch for the photographers - they don't seem to know the word no - or hindi in tagalog - and they follow you around trying to fleece you big time for a few photos.
The kiddies area is great because you get to hold a python, caymen and parrots and can even have a ride on a pony if you are light enough - the keepers kept trying to get me to climb aboard and could not understand that at 90kg my weight would break its back or legs.

“Where are the animal advocates?!”
Reviewed February 21, 2014

The zoo is a nice park area to walk around, but the animals are in terrible shape. Many animals are just skin and bones and living just on cement. A lot of families strolling around. Hopefully someone will see the need to make sure these animals are better taken care of. It would be interesting to know who has authority over the care of the animals.
