Adriatico Arms Hotel
Ranked #16 of 76 Manila B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 16, 2012

Hotels in Manila are quite expensive, so although the price of this hotel seems a little high at first, when compared to the others it's considered quite reasonable.

Rooms are relatively clean, however, the fridge in our room (deluxe, for three people) was really gross inside. Bedsheets look a little old. Basic amenities are available: phone, TV etc. Hotel was located about 40 mins away from Ninoy Aquino airport (and the cab driver charged us 100 pesos per person (we had five people), which was way too expensive. And the driver had difficulty finding the hotel- he had to stop several times to ask for directions. And one major drawback of this hotel is that there's no lift, but given that it's just a three-storey hotel, it would be quite a loss for them if they had a lift.

Staff was friendly and the security guards are extremely helpful- they open doors for you and help you carry your luggage to your rooms. Didn't try out the restaurant in the hotel but the food is quite expensive. There are many Asian restaurants nearby selling Chinese, Korean and Japanese food. It is also about 10 to 20 minutes walk away from the Robinsons mall nearby.

Malate is quite lively at night as there are many nightclubs and pubs around. However, it would be quite dangerous to wonder around at night as there are many weird people lurking around.

Overall, the hotel is valued for money as compared to others in Manila.

In a crap city, where you don't want to spend any more time than you need for your lay-over, this hotel is a great value for money option. The rooms are well-kept, the staff is very very friendly - the guard is great! The food in the little 1930's kind of restaurant/bar is descent (a bit pricey) and often occupied by locals having a drink or bite.

Definitely take a room away from the street - it is quite noisy and busy 24/7. Rooms are descent - nothing special but great value for money. We read the review in the Lonely Planet which is writing about snazzy, funky rooms which is BS. Don't have any high expectations and they will do fine.

The hotel is close to the sightseeing places, 5* hotels and restaurants. Malate is an 'interesting' neighbourhood - quite a lot of crime, busy, noisy - but I guess that can be said about the whole of Manila (except for the business part of town).

Room Tip: Away from the street - all basic rooms. Don't believe the review in the Lonely Planet - nothing...

Let's face it, getting a good low to midrange room in Manila is like getting blood out of a stone... Well this is your answer.. Rooms are well presented, well kept and clean; the whole place has an air of rustic charm and the staff efficient. Didn't use the restaurant or bar. Will definitely use this again...

Quite simply, I think one would have to try quite hard to find a better deal in Manila. This is not a 5* establishment by any stretch, but unlike many such hotels, this place has charm, harkening back to a Manila age long since past (other than this hotel, there is the cafe on Remedios Circle and that's about it). For what you are paying (1650 pesos in 2010), it's a steal. The reception and room service staff are consistently pleasant and helpful. Of particular value to travelers, the reception staff often excellent assistance in deciphering the country's byzantine intercity bus network, the complexity of which could otherwise strand one in Manila for weeks upon end. Malate is not everyone's cup of tea (and particularly not recommended for families), with the neighborhood seeming to go deeper into the doo-doo every year, but ultimately it's a good as any in terms of an entry point to the Philippines and, if you are headed there, you could do a lot worse than head to the Arms of Adriatico.

Room Tip: Get a room on the north side, away from the road, and preferably on the third floor. The road is noi...

This place is a good location, especially in Malate with many nearby amenities ie. ATM, 7Eleven, bars, restaurants, hairdressers, massage (nice ones with no boom boom) and Robinson Mall is 5 mins walk away. Also not far from Southern bus terminal. Never ate in the restaurant here but hear it is quite good. Nice traditional Spanish marble architecture.

Rooms are not the most recently renovated but still comfortable with Aricon, TV and shower. Check the room first. Can pay on credit card also and never had a problem with them. Done it three times now. 24hour security guard also is very helpful and nice.

so all round good value for money compared to other local places but the rooms do leave a little to be desired, if new and modern is your style. Owner is very nice and helpful also.

Room Tip: just compare a couple of rooms first.

We stayed here one night and ended up chosing this place based on the writings in Lonelyplanet where it was describes as a boutique hotel w/ surprisingly low rates with snazzy rooms. The rate of the room was okay as was the location but the room we had was not good at all. The a/c was not working, the room smelled incredibly bad (damp) and as there are no proper windows you could hear a dog barking as well as the sounds of traffic throghout the night. The rooms are also somewhat worn-out. The hallways looked okay and the staff was polite. No safety in the rooms.

I know this is a budget hotel but for the reviews written I was expecting a little more and was unfortunately dissappointed. Could be that there are different kind of rooms and we just happened to get an outdated version?

Room Tip: I would request a room not facing the street.

We stayed in this hotel for one night. It has excellent location in Malate close to many restaurants and bars and east walk to the park. The hotel is clean and welcoming. Since Manila is often considered not a nice place to travel in, Adriatico Arms Hotel makes you see things otherwise. You can get a cheaper room in Manila but for a double room this is the best value you get (we tried other places as well).
