Neat tidy, with a half decent breakfast.
Rooms were clean and nice decor, didnt like the bed or linen.
Wifi was OK had an issue in my initieal room but they moved me to new room.
Staff were respectful and professional.
Just a few stpes behind the big chain hotels.

Room Tip: Could do worse but more a hotel for Filippinos

This hotel is not directly along Roxas Boulevard and there is no view over Manila Bay. However it is quite near from the promenade. Recently renovated (actually the top floors are still being renovated) it offers good value for the price. Clean and neat. Nice bathroom with working faucets and efficient shower. Quality cable TV. Very good and diversified breakfast buffet (although a bit too Filipino to my Western taste). Very recommendable considering the Manila offer.

This hotel is full of old time charactor being a converted one time mansion. Good friendly and helpfull staff. Excellently fitted rooms with highly polished old time furniture, just sets the room off for a memorable stay. Tariffs great for what you get making this a hard to beat place to stay in busy busy manila. I was very impressed.

Stayed here two nights in January. I wanted a place near the Cultural Center of the Philippines because we went to see the Mamma Mia musical playing there. Chose the Orchid Garden Suites because of the reasonable rates and Trip Advisor reviews. Check in was good. Room was large 1 bedroom with living room and kitchen. Bed was very comfortable and bedroom had a great view of surrounding area. Furniture and room a little run down. Old style window airconditioning was noisy. Small old TV. Outlets for phone/laptop chargers hard to find in bedroom, had to charge in living room. Bathroom was nice. Hot water in shower was inconsistent, was hot and cold. We were hardly in the room so decided not to have the maid clean the room and put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. After a whole day at Manila Ocean Park we returned to the room to find that it was made up. I guess the maids don't pay any attention to the Do Not Disturb signs. Buffet breakfast was included so went there two days. Food ok, no complaints. Staff was courteous. For the price this is an ok hotel, but if you are looking for first class accomodations this is not the place to stay. If on a budget this is a decent value.

my most recent visit was sept of 2012 but have been here many times over the years, great value, older facility but well maintained, lots of marble, very scenic small orchid garden pool, cleaned every morning and on request but gathers lots of debris over the day, its a shallow comfortable pool which is great as a location for posed memorable pictures,

rooms comfortable and well appointed, great views from upper floors. for the price it is hard to beat. downers include marginal restaurant however this hotel is right across the street from the century with a great restaurant if a bit pricy, lots of carryout places near this hotel

it is probably the best value for the facility i have stayed at in manila, pretty classy and intimate

Room Tip: did the junior suite which ups the cost a bit but room for the whole tribe, including kitchen and di...

I just got back from Manila 2 days back, checked in on 8th & 9th August 2012 in this Hotel. All i could say is definitely a good selection by my wife. The hotel has a very exclusive interior look and its so clean. The rooms are so cosy and well maintained. Serves great breakfast! Will surely check in again if I visit Manila again!

This was our 7th hotel we stayed in on our 40 day trip, we had one month in Thailand and this was just a place to rest up before i headed back to London.. i was running low on funds so i booked Orchid garden suites as it was the cheapest of the choice i had in my list. This place is just ok and you get what you pay for. The best part of it i would say was the guy that came to pick us up from the airport we arrived around 4am and The hotel rep. was there waiting for us with smiles and was friendly. There was no receptionist on arrival to the hotel but some guy who i guess was filling in as it was a late check in , he didn't smile or really make any effort to greet us maybe he was tired but would be nice to be more friendly, the guy that picked us up was always making an effort though with smiles and politeness. When we were shown to out room that guy did mention to my gf in Tagalog that there was some work going on here and please excuse the mess (because there was mess outside the room and on the corridors. The room was big a spacious they had upgraded us to this room (i believe because the other rooms were being renovated) it was nice and big with two beds. In the morning we woke up to a bad smell in the room and heard noise from our door way the room opposite was being renovaed and the smell of varnish was so strong! it was going up my noise and making my gf cough we looked outside and the floor in the next room was being painted. we called reception and told them they said we could move rooms but not untill 2pm, so we went out to get away from the smell. When we returned the smell was now all over the hotel everywhere we walked we held our noses, we waited till 2pm and no one contacted us so we called and requested they did something about the smell the receptionist said we could moves rooms but we were feeling tired and just requested that they use something for the smell, after awhile they sent someone we also noticed that the kettle had a bad smell from it and when we opened it there was old food in it like the previous guests had maybe tried to cook noddles in it and it had not been cleaned so we request it to be cleaned and we left to sit by the pool. After we came back the vanishing had stopped and the room smelt reasonably better, but when entering the bathroom the smell was of really strong bleach. We were too tired and leaving soon to complain again. next day when making tea , the tea tasted bad and i looked again at the kettle although it had been cleaned i saw the spout is had still old food stuck inside!!! ewww i didnt drink the tea!!
the reception staff when you walk past never say hello or smile at you they are too busylaughing with each other and playing games or whatever.. the security staff are always courteous open the doors for you and smile helpful. the pool is dirty and stagnant water, ppl are moving thiings around always because of the renovations, the food in rook is over priced and not much verity no European choices available. Parts of the hotel are not inservice and we explored it looks like the places has not been in services for years like the bar and karaoke room. Its like being in an old haunted house. shower head is not clean and water does not come out evenly. Location is not bad but the road outside is very dirty and you cannot walk on it properly better to walk on the road. The aircon its like sleeping next to a factory, its loud! and hard to fall asleep

Bottom line, Orchid garden suite needs a lot of work but you get what you pay for and this was the cheapest place i stayed at in my entire trip so i cant complain too much cause you generally get what you pay for. but they do need to raise the standards cause what ever might be good about this hotel it is being let down by how many things are not good. This place is awful!
