“Your Stop on a Budget!”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Look, I just checked out of Bayview Park Hotel this morning and the stay was pretty much as expected. Compared to the other places around, Bayview offered a pretty good internet price for two nights. I paid $118, plus surcharge, NO internet included, NO breakfast buffet included. Not too shabby. It was about 640 pesos for WIFI internet in my room for two nights. Also not too bad of a deal. It's right next to 7-11, Yellow Cab Pizza and Starbucks. Taxis run right in front of the hotel all the time as well.

The hotel itself could use some love, but they are renovating, which shows that they are working on it. The staff themselves were very friendly at the front desk. The guy handed me my room key and two tickets to free buffet, and then took it back telling me that it didn't come with the room. I was a little mad about it, but hey, people make mistakes. I did get a chance to eat there with a buddy and it was less than good. If the food was better, this would have been 4 out of 5 stars for me here.

The room was good. The carpet was old, but not disgusting. The bed was pretty comfortable, and the shower felt great with tons of water pressure. The TV was smaller with no HDMI input, but I didn't watch too much TV anyways. The internet was pretty good for the price. It had it's moments, but it worked really well for me to download stuff and talk with my wife back in the States. AC was great and it was colder than cold in there with the chance to adjust the temperature in the room.

The gym there was disgusting though. I was disappointed with it and it smelt terrible. They need to give that place some love. It's on the top floor and out of the way. Kinda creepy going up there and there needs to be better signs up there.

Overall it was pretty good, and you can't complain for the price for two nights. If you're just looking to use WIFI and sleep, this place is probably for you. Not too far away from Mall of Asia and the other places to go, like Hyatt, Hobbit House, etc. Bottom line: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

Room Tip: I chose the 6th floor based on other reviews, and the internet was pretty speedy compared to my budd...

Hotel is in the process of what I hope to be renovations. Main foyer is presentable and looks like a classy hotel however the foyer on level 6 looks like it has been primed ready for painting. Bar area on the top floor is not there and are men painting and repairing.
Apart from that rooms are average in need of an updated tv and updated decor. In room internet very slow
The buffet breakfast was great however I suggest get there early otherwise you get left with scraps.
The staff are very helpful and polite and prompt with service.

It was my fourth time to be in this hotel, the last time about two years ago. I booked with this hotel because of the promo by Asiatravel and I must say that I've got a fairly good deal.

The PROS: The rooms have improved much. Compared to the grubby and unkempt look they sported a few years ago, they are now evidently splashed with fresh paint and rolled out with new carpet. The rooms now looked brighter. The bathroom tiles and fixtures are also new and the bed looked cleaner and more comfortable. For a hotel that rates itself as 3-star, the bathroom amenities and toiletries were standard of 4-star hotels, The bathtub in every room is also a plus (although I cannot see any drain clog in mine, I hope other rooms have theirs). The old CRT TVs have also been replaced with new Aquous LCD TVs with a wide range of cable channels to choose from. The electric water kettle, thermal pitchers, daily newspaper, and extra pillows were also pluses. Check-in and out were also 'a-breeze' and it was one of the only few hotels who don't charge an upfront security cash deposit and which I hope the Management of the hotel will keep it that way. In addition, I also count the location of hotel as one of its most important attributes, being right in the Manila's Rizal Park area and near almost everywhere; embassies, shopping centers (Robinsons Ermita), churches, etc. which are all walking distances. The hotel entrance and dining area staff are all courteous. The bed is soft and my sleep quality is good (my room was in the 12th floor)

The CONS: Wi-Fi which has been the standard free facility in almost all hotels is not free. You will be charged 320 pesos per day if you want to be connected (if you want to save, Globe Tattoo and SmartBro costs only 50 pesos per day and you can plug it in your cellphone or laptop anytime. The front desk staff are not cheerful. They seemed to be there only out of fulfilling a job. I asked for an assistance about the possibility of having my cellphone charged for an emergency communication yet they bluntly told me that they "don't allow such." The breakfast buffet was not impressive with little selection of food (although they were prepared well and taste alright). The rooftop facilities which host the swimming pool, gym and a reception dining were obviously left out of the refurbishing and upkeep efforts of the hotel management. They looked dingy and in great decay. And, although it's supposed to be alfresco, there was a great glass heavily-tinted wall that denies everyone the greatest locational advantage of the hotel--- the view to Roxas Boulevard and the Manila Bay with its famous sunset. This is the same situation in all of the hotel rooms on the same side where windows that are supposed to have a fantastic view of the bay have been permanently closed and heavily tinted. As the property located rich smack across the US Embassy, the hotel has one of its greatest assets turned to a liability. The swimming pool is also too small. i went up the roofdeck to have a swim but found that it was already crowded by a few people that i retreated back to my room and take a shower instead.

Generally, it was an OK one-of-those hotels in Manila.

Room Tip: The hotel does not give you free wifi but the Starbucks Cafe on the ground floor does.

We were very fortunate when we checked in here as they had double booked our room for three nights of the five. They upgraded us to a suite room at no extra charge, the room was huge. The staff were very friendly and the Front Desk staff very obliging. Wifi was rather expensive but we did find it ran for a lot longer time than we had paid for. I had stayed at this hotel 20 years ago when they had a roof top bar, sorry to say that is no longer there.
Breakfast was not anything special, it was included in the room price so we ate there, would be a better option to walk around the corner I think and eat at the Swagman hotel.
It was hard to move to the smaller room after three nights of luxury, oh well we enjoyed it while it lasted.
