We stayed here with our 7 year old son as a way of escaping all of the craziness and hustle and bustle that is associated with Manila. The staff well and truely exceeded our expectations in making us and particularly our child feel very welcome. Our flight was over 4 hours late and was followed by a very long trip from Clark to Manila arriving at peak hour, so our arrival was much later than we had expected and we were all exhausted after spending way too many hours in transit. From the moment you step into the building all of your exhaustion and stress simply disappears. The staff made sure our son who was absolutely exhaused felt not only welcome but very special. The pool overlooking the bay ensured that we were all instantly relaxed and the helpful staff again ensured that we recieved a butler's buzzer as soon as we arrived and bought all of our food and drinks to the sunlounges so we didn't have to make our son get out of the pool, shower, change and go to a restaurant. We ordered and ate our dinner by the pool so our son could unwind and enjoy himself after such a long day sitting around airports and on planes. Our view over the pool and the bay was lovely also. The rooms were spacious enough, fittings were up to date and the place was very clean and welcoming. The only down side we found was that we booked for 2 adults and a 7 year old child, but only recieved 1 bed. We had to pay extra for a fold out bed to be bought to our room. Disappointing, but again once paid for was set up in our room with no fuss while we relaxed by the pool. We also organised for a taxi to take us to the airport the next morning as we were leaving very early. When we paid the following morning the charge was double the price that we were quoted the night before. We were running late for our flight so didn't have time to argue so simply paid. Again disappointing, but not enough to take away from the lovely evening we had the night before. I would suggest it to anyone (especially those with children) wanting to simply relax and get away from the traffic and business of Manila.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the pool and bay...

A long, high, solid iron fence along the waterfront of the hotel blocks out the beautiful view from the swimming pool and outdoor dining areas across Manila Bay. I had taken my kids there for just one day/night especially to experience the view and ambiance I first enjoyed ten years ago. Plus, the two long water slides into the pool weren't working - another big disappointment. None of these deficiencies were apparent on the hotel's booking website and even when checking in (at which time I was sold on upgrading to a better room at more than 50% cost of original booking) the word "construction" was mentioned only in a most cursory manner. Apart from these letdowns, the room was nice on the 11th floor, with a nice big balcony and beautiful view - but void of furniture on which to sit and relax or dine outside - very clever! So I would warn anyone thinking of selecting this hotel, which is basically nice, to make sure construction is finished, everything works, and you can sit on your balcony - before clicking the "book now" button! If I hadn't been in such a hurry to the airport the next day, I would have made an official complaint to management and asked for a meaningful refund.

This was our first stay at the sofitel philippine plaza. we stayed 3 nights. Upon arrival to our surprise we were made "guest of the day" in which we were upgraded to the executive floor where they provided us with cocktails while we checked in. we were also given free internet access, fresh fruit and canapes on arrival. The room was fantastic with a view of manila bay and the mall of asia. the room furnishings were nice and the bathroom modern. The bed was very comfy soft and enjoyable to sleep in.
The negatives of the stay was on our last night there was a concert of some sort in the building beside us with very loud thumping music. This went on until at least 4am in the morning. The hotel is located in an area that seems slightly isolated so finding transport other than taxi's is hard.
To our surprise on check out were were also charged a 476 peso bill for an international call that was apparently made by us from the room. This was incorrect. we did not receive and apology from the receptionist for this mistake nor did he acknowledge us when we were leaving. This was a little disapointing after the fantastic service we had received on check in.
I would suggest to thoroughly check your bill on check out before any charges are processed.
Over all though we had a plesant stay at Sofitel philippine plaza.

Sofitel has always been the best hotel for me. I love the Suite at the 10th floor. The service is really good. People are always so pleasant . I love the executive lounge. Apparently, the only problem I encountered this last stay of mine was the loud parties that went on last Friday & Saturday nights at the tent Way down beside the parking lot. The low frequency of the bass guitar was just so loud it was creeping through the walls and felt like it was shaking my whole Suite. Well, I thought maybe you should do something about the location for these loud parties? This is why I rated the room and sleep quality a 4 when I would've rated it a 5 as before.

I Have stayed in the Westin Phil Plaza (which is the old name of this hotel) and was expecting more or less the same service and quality of stay. To my surprise, the hotel, now known as Sofitel, has been much improved through the years, even if they have been damaged by typhoons and floods in the area. The rooms are very clean, the beddings are a winner. Service was impeccable. Only wished they could have thrown in free wifi for all rooms.

A lovely oasis in Manila, we planned this trip for a short parent-get-away. We booked the foodie package and all I can say is, do not veer away from the Spiral buffet. It is a must! Hubby noticed that the buffet was more asian-centric, where else can you get a more authentic japanese breakfast, dimsum, dosa and tapsilog all in one place (there were also the usual continental offerings and delicious selection of crusty breads)It was a dream! And that's just the breakfast! I spent a lot of time in the cheese room in every meal while hubby kept on going back for the kaldereta. If you must order ala carte, order the chocolate cake. It's exquisite! On top of the food, the hotel staff were very alert. From concierge, bell boy to welcome ladies etc...all were very professional. Our room was very nice and quite luxurious. Our bathroom was new, sleek and stylish. I smelled of L'occitane verbena during our whole stay. The view was also amazing. At the end of our stay, we couldn't help but think we should've brought our kids, the pool is so kid-friendly with a slide and dipping pool. The Hotel has a Gymboree and super kid-safe hotel playground to boot. I forgot to mention that we were also picked for guest of the day promo and upgraded to the clubroom level. We didn't get much use of the club room amenities cause we were too full from our Spiral visits but the late check-out was a nice plus. All in all a fun place to stay in Manila when you want a quick pampering get-away but not too far from the kids :).

Room Tip: There is ongoing daytime construction to reinforce the bayside wall and green fencing beside the poo...

The room is spacious and clean. We got the cheapest room. There's no bathtub but the shower is quite good. It's like you're under the rain. The room and corridors smells good. I liked the smell of their complimentary soap and shampoo. I went there with my 1 year old baby girl. I was surprised that they can provide us a crib for our baby. But I was not able to inquire them about it because we brought our own crib already. We took a dip in their pool and we enjoyed almost of our stay there. The water's temperature is not very cold so my baby did not had any colds or flu after that. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there and never had any problem with them.
