My family stayed their for a quick staycation.we chose this hotel because its one of the well known hotels along manila bay. We were a bit disappointedw with their service. The staff particularly in the entrance are not helpful. They wont even offer to assist you with your baggage. They wont even offer to open the door for you! Hoping the amenities would somehow compensate with their bad staff,we were again disappointed withthe room that we got. It is old and cramped and not kid friendly. The pool area is also a big disappointment because it is already old and not well maintained. The tiles are dirty and the water is murky. We also didnt enjoyed the breakfast because the choices are quite limited. For their price i think they need to improve more.

I stay at this hotel twice yearly, mostly because it is an Accor Hotel and I am a Platinum member, however, each time I stay I question whether it's time for me to look for another option. On my last day of this recent stay whilst working in my room I was constantly disturbed by doors slamming. Getting annoyed at this I investigated and was amazed to find it was the housekeeping team who would come back and forth to their trolleys, constantly allowing the door of the room they were cleaning to slam behind them. Usual hotel practice would be that housekeeping would keep the room door open whilst cleaning.
I find the rooms are looking tired and old and my room smelt quite strongly of insecticide.
The new Spiral restaurant buffet is one redeeming factor although I was suprised at the poor choice of some of the new aspects, such as impossible-to-use tongs to pick up slippery pieces of fruit; perhaps designed to make it difficult to pick up the fruits so that you actually consume less? The juice jugs are equally horrible to use with daily spills witnessed and a need for constant mopping up. Not at all user friendly.
I've complained before about the ridiculous cutlery in the old Spiral which is the worst of any hotel I've stayed at anywhere in the world. The knife and fork roll in your hand when trying to use so whilst they may look designer funky they are also very impracticle. I am pleased to see the cutlery is now changed in the new Spiral, however, is still in use at the outdoor eating area by the pool. Despite there being an abundence of service staff I find every time I dine or drink at the poolside dining area it is near impossible to get service. Once seated you will be given a menu but then the staff disappear and I had to venture over to the service area to ask for someone to take my order. To be robotically greeted with "Bonjour, Mabhuay, Good morning" by every staff member in sight does nothing to make my stay pleasant when coutered by staff slamming hotel room doors and wait staff totally oblivious to customer needs. Another odd aspect is that hotels worlwide have Filipino bands offering excellent entertainment. Sofitel Manila offers a lifeless casino or a sports bar with television. Suggestion: Use local talent!
On this trip, after four nights at Sofitel Philippines Plaza, Manila I then stayed the next four nights at Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, Thailand. This hotel is less expensive than it's Manila cousin and far superior!

Very comfortable stay made even more pleasant by an upgrade. The restaurant, Spiral, serves the most spectacular buffet I have ever seen in a hotel. The choice is outstanding, if not a little confusing as there is just so much variety.

This is truly a 5 star or luxury hotel that puts guest service first. There must be well over one thousand employess present at any given time . Upon check in, my wife and I were informed that we had been upraded randomly to occupy an upgraded room, as well as permitted to enjoy all of the additional benefits of a club millesime member which included a variety of complimentary comforts that were not included in our original reservation. The spiral buffet for breakfast all morning was top notch, and prolbably not equalled anywhere iin the country. All other requests for additional services such as repair of the television were handled promptly. If you are not on a limited or moderate budget, this hotel would likely be comparable or superior to any of the luxury hotels located within the Makati district .

Room Tip: If available, rooms facing the north side of the Manila Bay would probably be preferable, as there i...
