Sofitel is being branded as a "Luxury Hotel", but there's a difference between being luxurious and just being expensive. It can easily be seen in this hotel as the property is definitely showing its age. Foreigners may think this is a bargain for them, but at the price that Sofitel Manila is charging, one is better off with the other 5 star hotel brands.

The furniture and the door has nasty scratches and even the handle for the balcony sliding door is falling loose. Room looks bare and there are even less toiletries than a supposedly lower-tier Novotel of the Accor group. I hope they do the same effort and investment in re-modelling the rooms as they did in the Spiral restaurant downstairs to bring back the supposed luxury in this property. If they don't, and once the new hotels at the Entertainment City gets completed then this hotel will definitely be left behind.

Spent an evening at this beautiful hotel. We started of at the pool side, where the manager sorted out our reservation and we eventually got a place to sit. My husband ordered a beer, which was poured into a glass by a waitress who spilt most of it onto the table and then walked off without apologizing!
We then proceeded to the sunset bar on the top floor and ordered our meal A- La- Carte. The sea bass was good but the same cannot be said for the korean meat platter that came to the table stone cold- big disappointment. The service was shoddy to say the least, the lady who brought the grilled fish on to the table said " here is your fish and chips!!", the table next to ours was not cleaned for more than 30 mins till we complained.... the cold meat was replaced with a new hot one but had to be eaten with cold rice !
Not the experience we expected at a Sofitel. This hotel is a disgrace to other Sofitels around the world.

I would consider this to be one of the best 5* hotels I have ever stayed in. The reception area was impressive and the greeting we received was courteous and helpful. A lovely room with balcony and view over the bay and pool complex. Our stay was over the New Year period and despite the fact the hotel was fully booked, the service we received was not compromised. The New Year celebrations were perhaps the most enjoyable I have ever experienced with an abundance of food, drink and good company culminating in a grand fireworks display. Its' success was due largely to the hard work and diligence of the bar manager Caleb who was the perfect host. Breakfast in the restaurant was superb and apparently there are 27 international chefs working in the kitchens. Whilst we never visited the casino, we found the Sports bar had a convivial atmosphere where we enjoyed drinks and bar food in the evening. Value for money and from our experience, we would recommend this hotel highly.

Room Tip: Better views over the bay and pool complex

The hotel room was fine. But the service and food were poor. The staff constantly try to up-sell you on everything and frown at you when you do not purchase. I booked and paid online only to arrive and have staff tell me that my room would be much nicer if I paid more. When I refused and asked for the room I had booked they rolled their eyes and made me wait 20 minutes before completing my check-in.
Room service was slow and the food was average. The food poolside was even worse. The burgers we ate were under cooked and the bread was soggy.
The pool was full of noisy children and the water slides did not work.
While waiting for a taxi we were ignored and told to wait because a family needed our taxi. When I asked why, they told me to wait my turn. I explained that we were in the taxi line, but the response was the same.
Our electronic key did not work on the second night, and when I went to the front desk to try to get a new one, they asked "did you put in the door correctly"? Like I was an idiot. Then they made me wait 15 minutes while they chatted on the phone.
The hotel is not near anything and the staff are terrible. Will not stay here again.
