Sofitel is being branded as a "Luxury Hotel", but there's a difference between being luxurious and just being expensive. It can easily be seen in this hotel as the property is definitely showing its age. Foreigners may think this is a bargain for them, but at the price that Sofitel Manila is charging, one is better off with the other 5 star hotel brands.
The furniture and the door has nasty scratches and even the handle for the balcony sliding door is falling loose. Room looks bare and there are even less toiletries than a supposedly lower-tier Novotel of the Accor group. I hope they do the same effort and investment in re-modelling the rooms as they did in the Spiral restaurant downstairs to bring back the supposed luxury in this property. If they don't, and once the new hotels at the Entertainment City gets completed then this hotel will definitely be left behind.
