My fiancée and I stayed here over the Christmas period and I can tell you the service was always wonderful. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the rooms are well equipped and clean, rooms service is always prompt and the shower is amazing. All this for a great value! Now I won’t say this is most salubrious of hotels because it's not, but for a budget hotel it soars very highly indeed I would highly recommend it if you have a limited budget.

It's also very close to Robinsons Mall, which is but a short walk always, where you can get some great deals on clothes and all manner of goods, and it's an easy ride via taxi to the Mall of Asia if you want even more of the huge shopping experience. Of course when using the taxi's always agree the fare before you leave...should be about 100php but depending on the time of night this might fluctuate a little...but pay no more than 400php...

We used the hotel as a launch pad to hook up with her family who lived about 20 minutes always by taxi, but it's great location allows easy access to all manner of bars, clubs (if you're into this - we weren't) and restaurants.

Over all a great hotel and we'll be using it again :)

Hotels in Manila are hit and miss. This one is a hit. It's well located in between the Intramuros, museum/Rizal Park and Malate areas, and the room I stayed in (a Deluxe) looked good, and had everything I needed. There was also free Internet and a decent buffet breakfast. For the price, I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel. I've learnt to have low expectations of hotels, and this one was better than expected.

A couple of tips: First, if the check-in staff ask you to wait while they check you in or out, ask how long. I checked in early (11am - check in is 12), and when they asked me to wait, I thought it was just a few minutes while they cleared with the housekeeper that the room was ready. 10 mins later, it dawned on me that they were wating for a room to become available (since check in and check out time are the same time). It would have been nice to check in early, but I wasn't in any rush, so just left the hotel for a look around and came back later. When I went to check out, they asked me to wait again. I asked how long, they said 10 mins. I asked if it could be quicker, and since there were no complications (like items from the minibar to pay for), it was done in 30 seconds.

Second, don't take a cab from directly outside the hotel, especially not the ones with a folded towel over the meter. Walk a little way, then flag a meter cab - there are plenty, and it will save you hassle.

Hotel was reasonable small hotel located in Ermita not far from Robinsons Mall and next door to the famous Hobbit House Bar and Restaurant. Rooms were reasonably modern and looked as though they had recently been refurbished. Breakfast was adequate with a western and eastern selection. The location of the hotel is handy for bar hopping in the locality but during the day time the street can appear rather run down which can be said for many streets in down town Manila. This hotel is not really suitable for family holidays but great for weekend city break or business trip. The one added advantage i found was that the hotel had parking areas for guests which is a must if you have a car in this part of Manila.

You cannot go much wrong with this one. It is clean and convenient, the staff are friendly, there is a safe in the room. Some things need attention, such as the choice of jam at breakfast (it's a choice of mango, mango or mango) and the total absence of cheese, the old style lift is very cumbersome and slow (and it was past its inspection date when i was there), and to switch (or turn on) the reading light you have to climb on the bed and reach behind the headboard! These few things do not really detract. All in all i would go there again if i am in Manila.

Dear Sir / Madam,

Greetings from Best Western Hotel La Corona Manila!

Thank you for recently staying with us and for your comments. Indeed your feedback is a valuable source of information for us to continue to strive at exceeding our guests’ expectations.

As for the breakfast jam, we have now added another flavor which is strawberry. For your suggestion of cheese we will certainly look into it since we already have 2 types of spread for bread. And as for the lift, its inspection is done every year and scheduled by the City Government Office which is now under process for renewal.

Should you require assistance with your reservations in the future, please let me know. It would be our pleasure to welcome you and your family back.

A lot of reviews of mid to high-priced Manila hotels tend to slate them for their bad service, poor cleanliness and generally being run-down and neglected. I was drawn to this hotel because, despite being well-priced, the reviews I read were pretty good. Deservedly so. The staff, which let's face it is what makes a hotel, were great. Smiling, friendly and attentive. The rooms have been recently renovated and are clean and functional. We had two short stays a few days apart and so got to experience two rooms. The oddest thing to me seemed to be the illogical and inconsistent placing of light switches, which necessitated a bit of experimentation before we got the hang of them. More amusing than annoying and bear in mind this does not claim to be a 5 star hotel. Yes, the lift was slow, but we only really used it to transport the luggage and to go upstairs if feeling a bit lazy. There are not many floors and the staircase is perfectly good. The breakfast buffet was perfectly adequate, offering fruit juice, baked items, a small range of western and asian food options, coffee and tea. And for once the coffee was good. I don't know what it is with hotels, even the top ones, but they seem to brew their breakfast coffee from the lowest grade stuff they can find. Our only reservation was that the restaurant is small and there is a smoking section, which means that regardless of where you sit, you're in the ashtray. The desk staff informed me that the management is discussing this issue, so things may change. Location-wise, the hotel is close to Roxas Boulevard and within easy striking distance of most of Manila by cab - traffic permitting. Robinson's shopping mall is a short walk away and there are bars and restaurants in the adjacent streets, although the area is a bit run-down and could be a bit dodgy at night. That said, we walked back from the mall after 11pm with no incidents. Given the price, cleanliness and staff, I think this hotel presents a deal which is hard to beat for the budget conscious traveller. I will certainly return.

We are continually improving our rooms and it through this feedback that helps us understand guest needs. And for the restaurant, we will try to improve on segregating the area for smokers and non-smokers since it is the requirement of the hotel to have smoking and non-smoking areas at the restaurant.

Should you require assistance with your reservations in the future, please let me know. It would be our pleasure to welcome you and your family back.

This little boutique older hotel was fabulous from the start. Most of the rooms have been recently renovated and are just great. Many other reviews panned the elevator in this hotel as too old and slow, SO WHAT. It was not that bad and rather unique. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help. The breakfast buffet was the best in any Best Western I have stayed at and I stay in them exclusively. Do not listen to reviews that are critical of the buffet, it is plentiful, varied and of superior quality. I was so full from breakfasts that I rarely felt hungry for lunch and just skipped it. The area around there is not good but that is common throughout the whole Ermita area. Just take metered taxis and you will be fine. In fact just tell the doorman where you are going and you want a metered taxi and he will go and get one for you in less than a minute. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
