“Brilliant staff, brilliant hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

My first trip to the Philippines. Stayed 14 days in Deluxe Room 9th floor looking over the Bay. Cant really fault Armada. Sometimes, I agree, the wifi was not consistent but that happens. All staff were exceptional and made the stay so pleasant. Room great, cleanliness great, service great, location - brilliant. News paper at my door each morning. Both restaurants very nice. Restaurant staff are welcoming and efficient. Breakfast buffet - just great for both western and asian visitors - catered nicely for all tastes. Next time Im in Manila I will stay at Armada - its my new home when Im there!

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the Bay - its a lovely view - higher the better. Ask the staff - they are...

I transferred here after one night at a different, cheaper hotel. I spent 5 nights in a deluxe room on the 12th floor, and felt that just about everything about the room was quite good. My sole complaint was that the wifi was just miserably slow throughout the hotel, and there were even dead spots in my room.

The location is less than lovely, but I came to realize that it was about on a par for Manila...which is to say, broken down.

The staff tried to be helpful, though the English of some of the front desk staff was frustratingly poor. Food throughout the hotel was overpriced, and it was frustrating that the only choice for breakfast was the $14 buffet (which was very good and more of a brunch or even lunch/dinner buffet). I think having available something..anything!...for a light breakfast would have been much better.

All in all, I thought it was a nice hotel, and but for the very poor wifi, I'd have called it excellent.

Lovely clean well kept hotel in a good location. Really modern and so welcoming. But there is no bar so the only drink you can get is a beer. We were told we could go to the 7-11 and get some wine for our meal but when we returned were then told we could not drink it at the table. The food took over 45 minutes to come and we were the only ones eating there as we had arrived late and did not know where else to go out to. Only stayed one night and left early for a flight so cannot comment on breakfast but disappointed that you cannot use the lovely roof top pool after 6pm. In summary lovely hotel but they need to revisit the bar issue and also the pool opening time. I imagine a lot of visitors are passing through en route elsewhere and may arrive late but relish a swim.

The morning buffet was very good, as was room service, the pool is great, it's roof top and the water is always great. For the price it is the best buy in mainila, the locate is no problem, all the people are very friendly. For a family and people what there relatives to visit it's Outstanding. this is jerry soper second home while in manila great time.

Room Tip: if you want family to stay get a suite, it's alot more fun for everyone.

I had booked a Deluxe Room, but upon arrival I was upgraded to a Junior Suite with a nice view of the Manila Bay. Comfortable bed, clean room, attentive staff, good internet connection. Close to the bustling nighlife of Malate/Ermita, close to Robinson's Mall, close to the Manila Baywalk. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there were a couple of local restaurants, a 7/11 for basic supplies, a laundry. The famous Cowboy Grill (on Remedios Street) with decent food an good live bands is only a ten minute walk away. Also close is the Manila Bay Café, which is a short, less than 100 Peso taxi ride away.
The hotel is good, but there is not much special or outstanding about it. I would stay here again mainly because of the location. Some minor complaints: The pool has a nice view of the Manily Bay, but there are only three or four sun loungers and four or five additional seats around the pool, which is a bit odd, but the space is so small that there is hardly anything they can change about that. The breakfast buffet is pretty disappointing, even the coffee is really bad. I just wish they would put just a little bit of effort in it and offer a little bit more for western tastes. Unfortunately, I found no alternative for having breakfast nearby. The other food at the hotel's restaurant is not so bad, on the other hand, so again: with a little bit of effort it should be possible to offer a decent breakfast for western guests, too.

Room Tip: Junior Suite has great view of the Manila Bay.

We stayed in a Deluxe Room for 1 week in early March. Overall, I thought the stay was ok. Generally a clean comfortable room with a decent view but not a lot of other hotel amenities. The hotel is in a somewhat sketchy area but its Manila so what do you expect. It was a 10 min walk to the LRT and a short cab ride to Mall of Asia, Manila Ocean Park, Intramuros and Makati. Our room was on the 11th floor facing the road. I believe they recently renovated the hotel as almost everything seemed new which was nice. I would recommend getting a room on a higher floor if possible. I heard a fair amount of road noise even on the 11th floor. The rooms on the back don’t face the road but have no view.

We ate in the restaurant 1 night and thought the food was ok although a bit over priced. I would say there was a distinct lack of variety in the food but that was somewhat expected. The roof top pool was interesting and had a great view although the pool was somewhat small. I found the service to be a bit irritating and in need of some improvements. When we tried to check in, 2 hours early, after a 20+ hour international flight they wanted to charge an additional 2000 PHP for the early check in. Even though the room was empty and already clean they still want to charge the additional fee. After a bit of cordial arguing, I finally managed to check in early with no additional fee. Overall, it was a decent stay but I do think a bit over priced for Manila.

Room Tip: Highest floor possible due to road noise.

Hotel is in older area of Ermita but close to Manila City and Airport. Often confused with another hotel with similar name, Food was ordinary at breakfast and always in short supply, and restaurant with great views over city poorly patronised. No bar in Hotel at this time but is planned.Room was very good but let down by design problems in bathroom. Water from shower ends up on the floor. Designer must have failed course. Staff tried hard but lacked the oomph power. Needs more training in customer service. Adequate Gym and pool. Lack of information about Manila/Philippines and no brochures available for tourists. Close to red light/club/bar area. Security is minimal but we never felt threatened at any time in Hotel or area. Shooping centres within easy walking distance.

Room Tip: Try for room overlooking Del Pilar street at front of Hotel.
