Ive been using TGIs for well over ten years and, depsite the non-existant service, the small portions, and noise which they call music , am still going there. I must be crazy.?
Ive lost count of how many times Ive walked in to TGIs and stood at the bar waiting to catch the eye of non existant staff who are busy throwing plastic bottles in the air like extras from "coctail", or clusterred around a table singing "happy Birthday" to someone, whilst I merely walk back out the front door only to be told to have a nice day, and "come again" by people too stupid to realise that weve walked out without ordering or eating anything.!! They dont seem to be bothered.!!

On the odd occasion when we have been able to get the attention of one of the "Happy Birthday" singers, we have waited ages for food which is matched in lacklustre merely by the portions, and overall dining exprience, and to add insult to injury, should you order food at the bar you will probably be next to someone blowing smoke all over your food. Sounds great doesnt it?

The fact is that this place used to be really good. On a Friday/ Saturday night it used to be buzzing, but nowdays the only people who seem to be enjoying themselves, in a deserted bar ( with the blarring noise) are the staff.!!
As I said, its a crying shame, as the place could be so good.

We had just arrived in Manila, were hungry and didn't want to venture far from our hotel before going to sleep and recover. Found Friday's and the Hard Rock right after going into the Mall next door and were reassured by the familiar names.
We went into Friday's. What an error!
We ordered a Filipino platter that, theoretically, feeds 4 or 5 people. I could have eaten it myself. A miniscule salad (one and a half spoons worth, tops), a slice and a half of pork meat, and three cuts of the slimmer, bonier chicken you can imagine. There was actually more skin than meat there.
We then ordered a Ceasar's salad in the "to share" size, only to discover that the place must have run out of lettuce and everything else.
We ordered a couple of desserts that were ok. We paid (3000 pesos) and went to get some sandwhiches before going to sleep.
Service was poor too. The waiter was friendly but must have been the only one around. He was never there. And didn't suggest nor made any helping comment (it should have been obvious that two adults and two children could not survive on the Filipino platter).
When the bill came a thick square had been painted over the total price. Like helping us find out the number. But it just crossed over the "service" amount. A waitress (our waiter was somewhere else) gave it to us saying something like "thanks for the tip". IT was not "I hope you enjoyed the dinner" or "thanks for visiting". But "thanks for the tip".
That made it. I looked at the bill, saw the "hidden" service charge, thought of the food and service and asked whether service was included or not. She said yes, but... She didn't get any additional tip.
Actually, I do not think I'll be frequenting Friday's much here or anywhere else.

I am not quite sure if I am the only one who has noticed how the servings here have declined in the past few years. They still serve huge portions by Filipino standards, but they're not quite like before. Food still tastes good though...
