I've been there with my kids and they are really enjoying every scenery...we are planning for a grand comeback to visit the place and expecting to stay even overnight at the planned hotel of the Ocean Park...I'm not sure if it's already established???

“Enjoyable for Kids. So-so for grown ups.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2009

I went to ocean park with families and a bunch of excited kids. The collection of fishes and marine life is good. Big, clear glasses and a center hall to see 2 or more aquarium in one place. The clear tunnel of water is the most striking part but I did wish it was longer than it is.

I was only disappointed that I have to pay separately for the fish foot spa and to board the boat that can view the fishes below. The souvenir shop is a rip off, try not to go there if you don't need to buy stuff marine animals.

“Expected more”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2009

Being a lovers of wildlife and keen snorkellers, my wife and I and a friend decided to try out the new Marine Ocean Park (we visited in last quarter 2008). There had been some hype and local Filipino friends had enthused about it. There were crowds queing to get it and not much room to move once having acquired our tickets. There was not doubt that it was a great thing for many, but to ourselves who have seen better in many countries, we expected a lot more in a country which boasts such a wealth of sealife. The plastic corals in the tanks were particularly disappointing. We generally had the feeling that they had opened the MOP before it was really finished so as to start earning money to support the ongoing construction (which continues to be ongoing judging by when we drive by).

“Without substance”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2009

Ocean Park –

At the end of Rizal Park / Luneta is the new Ocean Park development. It is still in its early stages of being a mall / aquarium and apparently eventually there will be a water themed hotel.

As of January 2009, nothing was finished and the entire place was under various levels of construction. The Aquarium, the main attraction, was open, but far from complete with many exhibits empty.

Over all the aquarium falls short of being the “World Class” spectacle of the promoters, and is worth 45 minutes to an hour of your time at most. The highlight is a walk through tunnel that is nice enough, but short. The tanks are generally barren. While there are plenty of fish, there is a notable lack of invertebrate and plant life, showing that the design and implementation is focused on flash and not substance. The life cycle of the ocean ends with the large fish on display and any real educational value must focus more than large fish swimming around a tank with a fake sunken ship.

I was looking forward to more information on the populations around the Philippines with maybe a focus on Manila Bay and the life of the bay. There were some shallow efforts, but far more effort was placed in the souvenir shop than most of the exhibits. Having recently been diving in Palawan, I am well aware of the rich diversity in the local seas. Nudibranchs, sponges, corals, jellyfish and much more are all through the area, but missing from Ocean Park.

All in all, it is a fun and entertaining experience, but shallow and without substance. More of a carnival atmosphere than anything else. Any Sea World is far more enlightening. While Ocean Park is a real treat for the locals, if you have been to other aquariums of note, it is little more than a curiosity at this point.

Recommended for: Kids; anyone that has never been to an aquarium; kitch and camp junkies.

Not recommended for: Anyone that has been to any truly world class aquarium or anyone that wants sunstance.

Note: An effort to explain the ecology of the Manila Bay, the history of the bay, how people have interacted with the bay and the effects and impacts of man and pollution on the species located in the area would be powerful, and greatly legitimize this effort.

“More Fish than we have seen before”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2008

The queue was non existant! The fish were incredible!.

We (family of 4) came here for a side trip on our way to Dinosaurs Alive (Which was also fantastic). Enjoyed our time here well worth the money.

The fish which are in abundance, were extremely colourful. We saw fish including the rock fish that we had never seen before.

We went to Agos (Flow), Bahura (Reef), Loot (Fishing Ground), Buhay Na Karagatan (Living Ocean), Ang Kalaliman (The Deep) and Pating (Shark), (Kids loved the sharks and the sting rays loads of them!)

We took the Glass Bottom Boat Ride which we enjoyed, but it is a very small square that you actually see, our guide made it exciting though and we found Dory you have to look for her lol!

Overall very nice family day out and I would say you have to go here if you are in Manila,
