We had a nice time visiting the gardens and seeing a variety of trees, fruit, vegetation and wildlife. The tortoises were wonderful and will be getting a much nicer new enclosure soon. I saw a few fruit bats flitting between trees and many interesting displays of local trees. It was a nice place for a stroll in a tranquil setting.

The bat tree was very cool. The lily pond at the top of the hill was lovely. The coco de mer trees were impressive. The giant tortoises were fun.

This is a small botanical garden, certainly compared to Singapore, Kandy or even Hong Kong, but nice enough for a couple of hours. The real treat is to get up close to the giant tortoise, a good few of various sizes in a nice pen. I am not sure if this is normal, but one of the gardeners overheard my wife and I saying it's a shame we can't go in and get very close, but he opened a gate (which wasn't locked) and said "go in". We were able to get some close photo's and even touch the old boys and girls. Very nice.

It was also really nice to see the fruit bats roosting in the tall trees. We see them every evening flying around our hotel, but they roost far away, so nice to see them still.

The majority of the garden is well kept, although up one path you come across what looks like a dead end with a pile of rubbish, including polystyrene burger trays!

A couple of suggestions to improve what is a nice experience. Firstly make the paths more obvious, or the map better. Secondly, there are so many trees in the garden according to the map, but they are only listed. A very small number have Latin name tags, but perhaps number each type of tree to align with the list in the map.
