Was recommended by a local to visit The Pirates Arms and was not amused at all. It is a very tourist place, with a standard tourist menu and way too overpriced. Ordered the seafood pasta that was ok, expected it to have been much better being an island and was totally disappointed with the fruit platter. Expecting for 110 rupees to have been a big platter with exotic fruit was thrown back when a small plate appeared with half a sliced apple, half an orange, melon and pineapple. Paid almost 30 Euros for a meal that was not even worth half it's value. The only good thing was the iced pint of beer. Adding to the tragic cheap looking table cloths and chairs was when a beggar appeared at a table near the balcony and in a matter of seconds a waitress appeared holding a whip started whipping the poor beggar really hard and was shouting at him abuse to go away. What totally disgusted me was that nobody seemed to care with this obscene behavior. I would have liked it if that poor man was in the States and sued that woman for millions or she got thrown in jail! If you can, avoid this place!

After reading good reviews my wife and I made a point of visiting The Pirates Arms whilst we were honeymooning in the Seychelles.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to taste the food. Our drinks sat on the pass for at least 10 minutes getting warm before anybody decided to bring them to us at our table. Our fear of reaching old age waiting for our food to arrive deterred us from placing a food order. So we refrained from eating there and instead paid our bill and left.

We opted for local food near the market. A fraction of the price and a wonderful experience down there. Pirates missed out on some good business that day because we were both very hungry.

The Pirates Arms is always busy but welcoming. It is like sitting on a large verandah in the heart of Victoria. Whether you go for a cold beer or to enjoy one of their delicious Creole curries it is a great spot to relax and soak up the atmosphere. Prices are reasonable given the location and free parking is available at the rear, accessed at the side of the Pirates Arms, where there is also a takeaway window open at lunchtimes.

The restaurant is situated at the heart of Victoria. I've visited it over 100 times as my office used to be 3 steps away from it. Always seems busy but mainly because of it low prices. Service is very slow and the food is average. If you prefer to have quiet & undisturbed lunch/dinner its best you go elsewhere as people from the street can easily spot you in the restaurant. I still go there though for a cup of tea or a pizza but only if I'm not in a rush!
