Big tunas, lots of other fishes laying on the ground, not forgettable smell :) You can buy any fish and cook it if you are not lazy at Maldives :)

“Fun for kids”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

The fish market is a fun place to walk through with kids. The entire experience takes no more than 5-20 minutes and is a great way to learn about fish.

“Hugh tuna”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

Worth a visit to the market and the harbour opposite to see them carrying the hugh Tuna fish from boat to market for sale. Gives a sense on how dependent the maldivians were on fish in the past. It was and still is a stable of their diet.

“Definitely worth a stroll”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2012

Housed in a rather small building, the activity here centres around the trading and buying of fish. When I visited, there were a lot of tuna in the market. Apparently, they were being bought for export to Northern Asia while the locals would buy smaller fish. Also, a good place to watch the fishmongers at work. One guy managed to gut a 50 cm fish and fillet it in less than 3 minutes - pretty impressive.

From the island Farukolhufushi we went to a boat trip to the Maldives capital Male. We looked at the sights, sultan palaces, cemetery, modern buildings and most importaly, we know the athmosphere af fruits and fishs market. We met not only with history, bul also the presence of Maldives Republic, this beautiful paradise on earth.
