My boyfriend and I both live and work in a resort in the Maldives. We somtimes spend our off days in Male and we've tried different hotels.
Sala Boutique Hotel is by far the best. We stayed for 2 nights. The price you pay for is all worth it. Nice and cozy room complete with a flat screen tv with HD channels, Espresso machine, nice big bed. Good quality linens, pillows, towels. The ambiance of the hotel made us feel like we were in the spa, smells nice and relaxing.
Great service from Thomas and his staff. He made sure we were always comfortable.
The price comes with free breakfast which was pretty good too. We also had dinner at the restaurant, authentic thai cuisine. Quality of food products they use are really good.
Staying here made us even forget that we were actually in Male.

We spent 1 night at Sala Boutique and were very happy with the hotel. The owner Thomas is what every hotel needs, a hands-on manager that goes out of his way to help where he can. The rooms were very clean and recently done - so everything is new and in perfect working order. The selection of TV channels was great and the Sala Thai Restaurant was awesome.

We were on the ground floor, so there was some noise with other guests passing by the room in the late evening or early morning - but totally acceptable.

We also went for a massage at FootRub at their massage room. The Back-Neck-Shoulders massage was very good and fair at $25.

They are also very accommodating on the breakfast which they gave us just before checking out after 11h00 - which consisted of eggs/omlete, bacon, sausage, toast, cold meats and cheese with a nice selection of jam.

I would recommend this for any stay in Male, what you want is good service, nice rooms and value for money - this hits all the marks 100%.

I stayed here for 4 nights recently on a business trip and was extremely impressed. The attention to detail and the level of service are exceptional. And, as always, the food is truly second to none in Male (and I have eaten at most of them as I am often in Male for business related reasons). Many thanks to Thomas and the excellent staff.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the larger rooms upstairs!

We loved the place the moment we stepped in. It isn't your normal "boutique" hotel. Sala has so much character and Thomas the owner and his wonderful team ensure that your stay is comfortable and all your needs are met! That it formerly belonged to a sultan and it was so lovingly restored, adds to the charm of the place.

We stayed only for the day as we had a long wait after check-out from our resort till our flight out in the night. Beats hanging around in the airport or paying an arm and a leg for a characterless and more expensive day room at Traders or the Airport Hotel!

The bed was super comfy. Room was clean and beautifully decorated. Toilet although tiny was adequate. Loved the lemon grass scented liquid soap!

Wifi that was included was fast.

The Thai restaurant was really very good with Thai chefs! We had a wonderful dinner there. The Phad Thai was the best ever.

And, before I forget,Thomas received us at the airport and took us personally across to Male on the local dhoni (boat). Such personal service.

Highly recommend this hotel whether for business or en route to/from your resort in Maldives. It really is a special little place.

What could I say what hadn't been mentioned by the predecessor?
Thomas (world's greatest 'Steve Jobs'-Impersonator) and his team created an atmosphere which made up the basis for a wonderful stay.
Highly recommended: Try beverage B.25 if you are into pineapples in addition to a superb lunch what I call delicious!
If you look for a stay-over while waiting for transfer on the airport ask any travel agent to help you to get by ocean-taxi in 10 minutes to Thomas: you won't regret it because you can't start / round up your holiday in a better way!

ps.: Nespresso aficionados will appreciate it a lot!

We booked this hotel for our first trip to Maldives being firstly attracted by its cozy setup as seen from the hotel web.

We stayed 2 nights here before going to Hilton resort and after coming back from Hilton.

The hotel is accommodated in a hundred year old Maldivian house, with 6 rooms only, so it is giving us a very nice home feeling as if you are not away from home on this Indian ocean island. The room furnishing especially the fabrics used everywhere like bedding, towel, bathrobe made us fall in love with the room immediately. We couldn't help but asked to buy 1 robe as our best souvenir from this trip with its softness on your body.

The owner Thomas is a very friendly & informative gentleman from Germany. We made friends fast with his lovely family, his wife Liza and their big-eye 1 year 3 month old baby girl Alia who's always smiling at you.

The butler Ninu who's from India is all the time waiting to attend to you in such a gentle manner. Other staffs in restaurant are same nice & ready to help all the time. Food is great here with reasonable price.

One thing especially worthy recommending is their foot massage, although the room is small, it did not affect the great effect frm the 2 Indonesian therapists' power on you. My husband cried frm the great massage, he loved it so much even though he has a strong body himself. We'll definitely come back one day just for this never-experienced massage experience.

Sala boutique will be definitely your first choice stay in Male city, you can have really great rest here before you fly back to home.
