“Tune Hotel = Air Asia”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2012

I decided to write a review after reading a few from 2010 and 211.
Did you know that Air Asia started the Tune Hotels ? That said, I love this hotel.
Basically, you pay for a great room with a big ceiling fan.
If you need more luxury, PAY TIME !!!!! TV, Wifi and Air Con (around 30 ringgit for 24 hours).
The concept is interesting, but not for everyone !
Beware ! if ever you need to smoke, you have to go outside.
All in all, I recommend it !

Dear Guest,

Thanks for the review.

We are a Limited Service Hotel. Similar to the concept practiced at Air Asia, we provide the basics.

We do not provide items such as wardrobe, mini bar, coffee and tea making facilities, extra pillows, extra beds, room service, etc. Air-conditioning, Television, and Wi-Fi are chargeable add-ons and towels are on rental basis only. This typically allows our customers to assemble their stay requirements to suit their budget.

We adopt a demand based pricing mechanism. Room rates fluctuate based on demand and room availability. You are more likely to find more promo room rates during off peak periods than during peak periods (public holidays, weekends, etc).

It is certainly a rewarding pursuit for the ones who plan and book ahead and a real treat for budget conscious back packers and perfect for people who just want a good price on a user pays basis..

We hope to serve you again in future.

Rgds,
De Silva-Customer Care Manager

Staying at Tune Hotel, Kuala Lumpur is not my first experience. The hotel is one of the best for budget hotels with cheap and easy check-ins, clean room and some basic facilities. However, this time staying at the top most floor is a little discomfort, with the lift hot & humid and having to heave heavy luggage from the 6th floor to the 7th floor through the stairs (apparently, the lift doesn't go all the way up to 7th floor, you have to stop at 6th floor and walk the stairs up to 7th). The corridors in the 7th floor is very warm as well and being the top floor, no air condition is unbearable and I have to escape into my room and turn on the air condition quickly. I suppose the on-going renovation is the main factor of this problem, but I expect that this condition will not be long lasting, I fervently hope so for the sake of my next stay in the hotel.

Room Tip: Unless you have a light luggage and does not mind walking one level up, 7th floor rooms should be av...

Dear Guest,

Hi There,

Thank you for completing a TA Review on your recent visit.

All Tune Hotels are strategically located close to major shopping, sightseeing and business destinations. Nearby each hotel, you’ll find established convenience store operators and food & beverage outlets to give you reliable facilities within easy reach.

Our hotel is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city within walking distance of shopping, dining and entertainment areas. Less than 5 minutes walk from Monorail and Light Rapid Transit (LRT) train stations (Medan Tuanku and Sultan Ismail stations respectively). 10 minutes from major Kuala Lumpur attractions.

Check with the front desk for shopping and dining adventure at the heart of Kuala Lumpur. I am sure you would not find it a boring trip if you take a tip or two to explore.

We look forward to welcoming you back some time in the future.

Regards,
De Silva-Customer Care Manager

This was our 3rd time staying at Tune Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. However, this time, there were some minor problems - like one of our rooms was not ready (linens were not changed) and the other room's door was not functioning properly. We had to ask help from the staff twice, once at night and once in the morning. Lastly, it was unfortunate that we lost our Panasonic Lumix camera. However, upon returning home, we got an email that they found our camera - only to be told that they can't send or mail it to us for unknown reasons (we asked them why but until now they haven't given us the reason/s). They only said that they can only keep it for 6 months and they may hand it over to a friend of ours in KL. It's just fortunate that we have a tour guide who has become our friend. What if others who are not from KL lose a thing or two and they don't know of somebody in KL? Tune Hotel should review their policy on this matter - Hopefully!

Room Tip: Ask first the Hotel if there's any construction going on during your trip. Unfortunately for us...

Dear Guest,

Glad your camera has been found.

In situations like this, we normally inform guests to arrange for pick-up, and relay the arrangements to the front desk team for their attention.

Nonetheless, thanks for choosing Tune Hotel Downtown Kuala Lumpur and we hope to see you soon.

you probably won't get a dirty, mouldy, crumbling room as we did (even the lotus motif wall was splashed with layers of brown who-knows-what and grime).

But I object to being subjected to all the advertising throughout the hotel including the room and bathroom.

If Tune Hotels said, 'We are subsidising costs with advertising so we can offer you a better rate' at least you'd have the choice. Instead they promote the idea that it's a five star experience.

Far from it, in my experience.

Just perfect for budget traveler. Great prices. Good location - close to MRT and about 10 min from KLCC. Nice staff at the reception desk. Rooms small but clean. Great big beds. Shower with mid hot water (but you don't really need HOT water in Malaysia: ) Nothing more to say about it! If you're lookin' for great budget experience in Kuala you should TUNE in!: )
