Tune Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Ranked #85 of 347 Hotels in Kuala Lumpur
Reviewed June 3, 2011

The hotel is next to low cost terminal (Air Asia terminal) Kuala Lumpur airport. We reached KL late night from Mumbai and stayed overnight at this hotel as we had another to take another flight in the morning to Langkawi. As the airport is some 75 kms away from the city, it wouldn't have made sense to take a hotel there. At the LCC terminal, there is no other option as this is the only hotel.

This is a very basis hotel. All you get is a clean room with a bed and shower. You need to pay extra for AC. The room is so small that if you have heavy luggage, then you better take two rooms - one for luggage. Bathroom is also very small. However, the quality of bed is good.

If you are passing thro LCC terminal or have to take a early morning flight, take this hotel if you don't need any luxuries - you will save some money.

This is my 2nd visit on two separate visits to KL.

I thought about going to the Traders Hotel but this was cheaper. The drawback is the location. To get to KLCC you either need at least 1 change or more. 1 is if you go to Sentral which is the longer way but is is more straightforward. Other way is change 2x and b/c in KL the providers are different you need to go to different buildings to swap lines (!). Or just take a taxi but beware they don't want to use meters. Incl the ones outside the hotel.

Great beds, clean, get a bed, a few shelves, hot water. A safe included that I didn't pay for. But the internet was slow. You could do internet and email but if you wanted to open up java and do some real work - like education assignment or test online. It would not fully load and I had to go to my friend's place and do it there.

Yes, you need to pay for AC and internet daily. But it is still cheaper than the big hotels. I didn't want the other small company hotel/motels due to the perception of quality. It is still cheaper for couples but if you are not too tight I suggest you go to the Traders so you are in the middle of the KL unique experience. Be warned though in KLCC Suria, if someone say that they have someone in your country and meet them - don't go. It's a scam. Research it. That persons happens to be out and someone plays a card game, you lose and you need to withdraw money for them.

It was easy to find as it's very close to the monorail. Check in was easy, rooms are a good size (accept the bathrooms) there was minimal noise at night despite being in a busy area. It was perfect for a 2night stop over - i wouldn't hesitate to book again.

This is a hotel that gives you as much as it promises on the website, nothing more nothing less. The location is central, near a monorail station. Hailing a cab to malls and hotspots is also easy. The beds are comfy and the shower is nice, though the bathroom is a bit cramped up. But that's on a par with the cheap tariff. For, this a no-frills place which you use for crashing at the end of a hectic day in KL.
For breakfast, you can use the Uncle George's cafe or the Subway, both in the ground floor lobby. Lunch and dinner could be had from the next door restaurant (forgot the name) if you have a taste for cheap yet sumptuous Malay, Indian and Bangladeshi food. Hanging out with a couple of beers (bought from a 24/7, the 24-hour store, bang at the reception) in chairs placed on the pavement outside the hotel watching the traffic zoom past is a perfect evening spent for lazy bums like me.
One bit of advice: The check-in time is 2 pm. So if you reach the hotel in the morning, brace to spend some hours sitting in the reception. This is a busy hotel and they certainly won't give you rooms before 2 pm, that is if you haven't paid extra (a nominal sum for a 11-am check-in) ONLY WHILE BOOKING. We reached the hotel at 7am and had to sit through the day at the reception, dog-tired after a sleepless night on a flight.

The point of these hotels is that it's basic but cheap. We wanted a cheap bed for the night in KL and that's what we got. The room was small, but there was space to move about without tripping on our luggage. The bed was very comfy and clean. The shower was powerful. It is conveniently located between two stations and we used them both. If you want air con, you have to pay extra but we found it was a necessity. I've stayed in other places for a similar price that looked shabby. This was clean and tidy and I would rather stay here than a cheap boarding house.

Took this for a 8 hour layover from LCCT. Room was very clean (thankfully) but really small. Just had room for a queen bed and a couple of bags. Bathroom was very clean and the shower was good. AC works well so you can get a decent nap and shower before your flight. There are a couple of shops outside the hotel where you can get food etc which looked ok. If you have a layover of 5-6 hours at KL especially LCCT then its well worth going to this hotel. You can get rooms for 3 hours or more and quite reasonably priced.
