“Worn out, but decent location”
Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for an extended weekend trip to Kuala Lumpur. We choose the hotel as it was a part of the ascott group and booked knowing that it was a serviced apartment.

My comments are below.

Location - decent location and easy walking distance to a lot of food options

Price - it was reasonably priced, but not cheap

Room conditions - the room and the hotel was very worn out and outdated. Needs a refurbishment!

Breakfast - Very poor

Pool - small and basic

Lunch / dinner - put off my breakfast to try other meals. Plus a lot of eating options within a walking distance

Service - good customer service. Staff were accommodating

Summary: the hotel / service apartment wasn't expensive (given that its part of the ascott group) but that's probably the condition wasn't great. Next time in KL we would probably pay more and get a proper hotel.

Hi, we stayed in Somerset for New Years. I first stayed in their studio room, which was really nice and spacious. And then my family arrived, and we were supposed to stay in a 2 bedroom suite, but they were all full, so they accommodated us in two 1 bedroom rooms, which were also spacious and good. They also had great views of Petronas towers. Breakfast is good too. And location is great too!!! I would say that it's the most central location you can get, lots of bars/cafes and shops around. I definitely recommend staying in Somerset.

Room Tip: Rooms with the views of Petronas are the best :)

Too high expectations because of rating tripadvisor, but appartment wasn't worth the money. The location was great, that for sure, but in the neighbourhood there are better places to stay for half the price like Maple Suites.

Somerset Appartment with 2 bedrooms with had only 1 sofa for 4 prs, we asked for a second sofa but the answer of housekeeping was that they were fully booked.
Cleaness of the rooms not good ....staff is lazy, we also had to ask to come and clean the room.

Tv remote and dvd player did not work, they tried to fix it but when it could not be repaired we did not get other stuff, how inconvenient.

Breakfast area is dirty, up in the open near swimmingpool, ughhh.

Only thing were the nice receptionist and securityguys.

Room Tip: There are better hotels for less money with truly Malay hospitality

Hi - stayed there in Dec 2012. we were 5 of us on vacation. the hotel location is perfect. Its very close to happening pubs, restaurant and night life. Very close to Petronas towers and the KL tower. In fact we could see both the towers from our balcony, perfect view. The hotel is more like a service apartment and very spacious. It can comfortably accommodate 6 folks. The apartment is fully loaded has fridge, stove, utencils, washing machine, tv. you can cook your own food. There is complimentary breakfast which is decent. its in the swimming pool area.
But interiors and ambience is decent, its not 5 star for the money you pay. I would not go back if you are looking for a great ambience hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms in the higher floor would be good.

We had a good stay at this hotel. The room was impeccably clean and relatively quiet. The rest of the hotel was good too, we used the pool, the gym and there is a handy shop as well.

Breakfast was good, omelettes made to order as well as all your continental brekky stuff too.

The hotel is in a good location, but trying to get around KL is rediculously hard at first. My only complaint about the hotel was that the staff did not have the knowledge on how to travel around as a tourist. After much asking around, we discovered there is a free tourist bus, but the staff were not sure where it stopped. They did a good job of directing us to the shopping however.

Overall I would stay at this hotel again if I ever venture back into KL.

This is not the first time my family is staying in a Somerset chain hotel and this is a disappointment to our previous stay.

The location is great if you dont plan to drive as most of the shopping and eating area is within walking distance. However, if you drive you may get lost because this hotel is located in a small side street and very difficult to locate.

We booked the 2 bedroom apartment which came with a washer/dryer but sadly the dryer was not working and we were given a token to use the common laundry's dryer.

There was a welcome basket but it was not intended for us but for another guest which showed that the staff did not clear the room properly after the previous guest had left.

There was hardly any toiletries given so if you intend to stay please ensure that you have all your toiletries with you. Unlike the Somerset we stayed which provided the full range of toiletries from toothbrushes to washing detergent for the washing machine. We thought that it would be the same for all Somerset apartments and was disappointed to find such a big differences in standards and services.

The room was also dusty which gave 3 of my family members a nasty allergy attack.

The breakfast was bare minimum. There was an egg counter and only one hot meal (fried noddles), a couple of choices of cereals and toast was available. It was a sad offerening.

We paid Malaysia Ringgit $450 for a 2 bedroom apartment which was expensive compared to the RMB600 we got for our apartment in Shenzhen which was well kept and comfortable.

I would not recommend this service apartment for the rate that they charge.

Wow! What a huge room - we had a premier two bedroom apartment, and it is the biggest hotel room we have ever stayed in. It was also well equipped with washing machine which was very handy to wash travel clothes, the room also has full kitchen appliances so it is great for long stays.

Location of the hotel is also great, near the food outlets and a short taxi ride to the major shopping complexes nearby.

Hotel staff always greeted us with a smile and were helpful and friendly, great customer service.

Only small downside of this hotel is the breakfast, it was basic with the range of food offered small.
