Hilton Kuala Lumpur
Ranked #12 of 347 Hotels in Kuala Lumpur
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 31, 2008

There are two Hilton Hotels in Kuala Lumpur, and this one is called Hilton Kuala Lumpur. It occupies its own tower block next to the Meridien's tower block. It is not brilliantly well situated for shopping, but is not bad for tourist sites. The reception area, with the cafe, coffee shop and lounge area has all the calm and domestic charm of an airport terminal – but the service here, as everywhere, is good. The ordinary rooms (as opposed to the executive rooms, which I did not see) are a bit odd. The total floor area is large enough but almost half is given over to the OTT bathroom, which is separated from the living area by frosted glass screens. So the living area is very small, with only just enough space for a (very good) bed and a wall mounted 42” plasma tv screen. But everything works and is spotlessly maintained - and it is all quite charmless. This must be the cheapest Hilton anywhere and it might be worth paying for it just to see what one of these places is like – but for most people I think that would be almost the only reason for staying here.

The Hotel is amazing, everything is taken care in detail, service is just excellent and the rooms are fantastic!
The breakfast is the best I've ever seen, we spent hours in there, cannot try everything! The restaurant is sooo good and the price you pay is ridicolous.
Maybe the only not great thing is the location, it is quite outside the centre and you have to get a train or a taxi to go anywhere. The taxi may take up to 50 minutes to go to the centre in the afternoon due to the traffic jam. This is the only lowlights, other than this, the hotel is really worth and don't forget to visit the swimming pool!

Stayed for 1 nite in a deluxe room at the KL Hilton on the way to Langkawi. Could have stayed at the Pan Pacific KLIA Airport hotel but had a bit more time to kill and knew from previous experience that KL Hilton is located only 28 mins from the airport via the KL EkspresTrain.

Had a wonderful stay (better stay than the Westin on the way back) and still of the view that the KL Hilton is one of the best hotels in KL (to me, overall, better than other hotels that I have recently stayed in here incl the Sheraton Imperial, Mandarin Oriental, Westin, Ritz Carlton). Will try the Traders Hotel another time.

Pros

- location (well located with easy access via taxis, monorail or train to the city centre and, of course, via the Airport Ekspres to the airport). Avoid taxis at peak hours at it will take you ages to get into the CBD due to traffic jams.
- complimentary meet and greet service either at the airport (if pre-arranged) or at KL Sentral
- large well equipped room with the latest gadgets (e.g. plasma screen, DVD player) and great bathroom (Crabtree toiletries)
- great breakfast buffet featuring local and international delicacies
- friendly staff

Cons

- Had a problem with the bill when departing. Prepaid the room which incl breakfast but hotel still charged me for breakfast. Despite pointing this out twice at reception, staff was not able to help as their system did not show that my package included breakfast. Problem was only solved (subsequent to my departure) once I was able to send copy of my ebooking to the hotel. Hotel apologised profusedly and advised that charge will be reversed (still waiting after 4 weeks).
- RM15 for approx 2 minute local phone call is expensive!!
- food prices at in-house restaurants are very expensive by M'sian hotel standards

Despite the minor problems, would still stay at the hotel in the future but will watch out on the incidental costs.

This hotel is fantastic. We took the KLIA Express to KL Sentral. The hotel was 2 mins walk through the station. Everything about this hotel is 5 star. Checkin was quick, staff very friendly and welcoming and the room was amazing. We got the deluxe room which was roomy with a great bathroom and shower. Our window blind broke but with one phone call was fixed straight away. Housekeeping came round in the evening to turn down beds and leave more complimentary water.
The pool area is lovely and we ate in the boardwalk cafe on poolside. We asked for a vegetarian option not on the menu and chef was very accommodating. Food was great.
The hotel is ideally situated for using the transport systems around the centre to see the sites. We organised a trip to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary with endemic guides. Our guide stopped off at Batu Caves for us at no extra cost. At the sanctuary he became our official photography and thanks to him we have some great photos of us feeding and bathing elephants. We had a great holiday. Only disappointment was having to leave.

me and my wife stayed at the hotel from the 10th till the 21st october. We booked an innovation suite. After a long flight from the uk (16 hrs) the hotel was about 40 mins from the airport - taxi costs about 20 pounds. We got to the hotel and check in took about 5 mins after which we went to our room. The staff showed us how to use things in the room, but boy the room was amazing, it had its own living room with wc, plasma screen, mini bar, complimentary fruits, complimentary water, nice big table, very comf sofas, sattelite tv and great views. walking through the living room then came the cupboard area and in the same area was a table with internet access cable (no wifi and very expensive like a tenner a day for very slow internet access). Walking through there came the bedroom which was fantastic with a very comfortable bed and many pillows. In the bedroom there was a big plasma screen and an ensuite bathroom which was open but could be closed off with the french doors. The shower there was amazing and there was also a bath tub. the bath also had a tv in it so you could watch tv whilst in there.
The probs with this room where also the fact that the lifestyle suite on the floor below was just literally below us so on one night there was one very noisy family staying there which kept us up till 2am. but this was only on one night.
I upgraded my suite to the lifestyle suite which is the best hotel room in the hotel and probably best in kl.
This was exactly the same even though the hotel staff told me it was bigger than the innovation suite, the only difference was that you had your own balcony area with table and chairs, decking and a hot tub. As well as this you get access to the executive service which gives you access to the executive floor ( a must as you get free wifi, complimentary food and drinks all day every day), you also get complimentary 4 pieces of laundry per day.
the lifestyle suite was a bit of a rip off for what i got , it cost me almost 120 quid on top of the innovation suite (which cost 110) for only the hot tub and decking which we used only once- but hey you only live once!
outside the room, the gym was nice although it was very humid and i found it difficult to train here.
the swimming pool was small but nice.
the restaurants where pricey compared to the rest of kl, but the chyna restaurant on the 5th floor ( ithink) was Amazing and you should deff give it a try. In terms of excursions we booked a trip to goto batu caves and genting highlands through the hotel for 600 ringits- which is amazingly expensive as we found out so dont book it through the hotel.
Overall the hotel was nice although at times over priced but the thing that made this hotel was the service and quality of the rooms, we thoroughly enjoyed the stay and just didnt want to leave.

Ok,
I have to say that this hotel is in my top 3. I have stayed in hotels around the world and the service and quality was amazing. I had to change a night for the hotel and it was done without question, cost or hassel. The service was first class and the room was beautiful. I got to look out over the Petronas twin towers and the KL tower. The food is great and I have to say again that the service was amazing. I highly recommend the hotel and its services.

The hotel was well located directly opposite the Kuala Lumpur train station which the KLIA Express train arrives into. This meant it was also close to public transport making accessing the city sights very easy.

Our room was large. The bathroom was huge and had a separate bath and shower as well as a small TV in the bathroom meaning you could watch TV while soaking in the bath.

The hotel had 2 pools (1 was technically part of the attached Le Meridien hotel), one of which had a small waterslide.

The breakfast was excellent and the service very friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in KL.
