I've been coming back to the Hilton KL for many years - which is an indication of their consistency in maintaining a good standard. The staff are exceptionally friendly and their rooms (which are starting to show some signs of age but are still nice) are generous and comfortable especially when you move up the scale.

The main distinction of the Hilton KL vs its competition is that it is not in the Central Business District (CBD) of KL - but to those who have experienced the calamity of moving around KL during peak hours, this is actually a positive. Nothing worse than struggling through traffic to get back to your hotel after a long day of meetings.

The bad news is also that it is not in the CBD - so if shopping is your thing, its a bit further away. There is a city shuttle but it's not quite the same as being in the midst of it. There are also stacks of premium taxi's (blue ones) to take you where you want to go - a bit more expensive than the regular red cabs ... but you don't want those ones, trust me, especially if you're a tourist.

If you are coming in from the airport, the KL Express train (which is by far the fastest and most cost effective way to get to KL from the airport) stops at Sentral which is a short walk from the hotel; whilst not at the doorstep it is the only hotel (plus its twin the Le Meridien) that offers this option of being within walking distance of the train terminal.

If you are driving - just be aware that the hotel is exceptionally popular for functions and events and as such parking on a Fri and Sat night is challenging (ESPECIALLY during Ramadhan). I'm not a fan of their voucher parking system for house guests - too many steps but a result of the hotel outsourcing parking management. They really need to make this more seamless. The flat fee valet parking service for house guests is a real option - convenient and comparatively affordable - and once again the doormen and valet staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

If you can, upgrade yourself to a room that gives you access to the Club Lounge on the 33rd floor - the offerings of food and drink are generous, the staff are warm and friendly and the 180 degree views looking over Lake Gardens are calming and give you a true understanding of the wonderfulness of a tropical city.

Being a Malaysian establishment there is a lot of emphasis on the food - there are quite a few restaurants and the buffet selection is mind bogglingly good. The Japanese restaurant has improved leaps and bounds since it first opened and is now very good - book for weekends because it does get busy.

The pool area is a little small and does get crowded during weekends - amazingly it shares the space with the Le Meridien pool area (which is slightly larger) and the hotels aren't fussed about which pool you jump into; but if you're going to order food and drinks then you need to be on the correct side of where you are staying.

I always believe that the soul of a hotel emanates from the people who work there - and the KL Hilton has a warm, wonderful soul. It is a very busy hotel and at times this is a problem - but then again it is busy for a reason - it is a great place to be.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the Park side - the garden views highlight the beauty of a tropical city

This was one of the best hotels in which I have ever stayed. Couple the fact that it was priced very reasonably during and that also makes it one of the best values I have ever experienced in the context of a hotel stay. The location was very convenient for me on this trip as I was there for a conference in KL city center. The hotel is conjoined with a Le Meridien in a relatively nice looking area. The exterior appearance was quite nice rising above most of its surroundings allowing it to be quite conspicuous on approach from the highway. Upon walking in, the spacious interior offered an elegant look befitting a Hilton establishment. I was checked in very quickly and efficiently upon arrival and, due to my Hilton status, was offered an upgrade to a fabulous room. The two-room suite featured a spacious living room with an adjoined dining area. There was a window-side study space in the walkway to a comfortable bedroom. A walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom rounded out the highlights to this terrific room. It offered wonderful quietude in the evening and featured a comfortable bed allowing me to have very restful nights throughout my stay. The amenities worked well including the WiFi. The morning breakfast buffet at Vasco's was outstanding as it was complete with just about anything one might want. The check out was quite efficient allowing me to be on my way quickly. In all, this has to rank with the best as far as the hotels I have experienced. This is significant since I have stayed in literally hundreds of places during my travels. As such, I would highly recommend this property if you need a place in downtown KL.

arrive at 8:00,receptionist told me i may add half day fee if I'd like to check in at that time. but he also offered a exclusive lounge choice which add 275RM then I can get breakfast , happy hour as well as laundry serice. I chose the exclusive one, and it seems worth the price. room is nice and only take 2 minutes to walk to KL center station. alse good view of KL city.

We stayed a couple of nights here in January 2011 and this is one of the best hotels I have stayed at yet.
Excellent service, nice staff and excellent location. Wonderful rooms with great view over the city.
And it is extremely good value for the money.
Would recommend it any day.

Been in KL several times, thankfully due to hotels unavailability in KLCC area I had to stay put at Hilton and am thoroughly impressed. The location is right opposite to KL Sentral 29 mins from KLIA. But the access is not straight forward, you have to walk across few hundred meters through a backdoor lift and its little difficult if you carry heavy luggage. Same if you need to get a taxi to move out. You can also use the prepaid taxis from KL Sentral but always have to pay a double while returning back. KLCC is 20 mins drive by Taxi. Well connected to rest of the city by trains and monorail. Haven't explored much within the hotel, but the rooms are excellent, much spacious and better than the CBD/KLCC hotels & LeMeridien right next door.

Room Tip: Executive rooms > 27 floors
