“Splendid Museum! Make time for it if you can.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

A short taxi ride from Central. Free entry but well worth a donation.
Quite superb. Start with the armoured cars and railway truck and the boat outside, then enter the beutifully prepared Galleries.
Watch the 7 minute film about the history of the Police in Mayaysia if you have time.
The room with the gun collection is awesome, with some home made guns probably as dangerous to the user as the intended victim!
We had no problem taking non flash pictures.
Finish by watching a short film on the Communist days.
Very friendly Police Staff more than willing to answer questions and make sure the films run in English when asked.
Cannot praise it too much!

“Hit and miss”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

Some of the reviews on here make me wonder if we visited the same museum. Plus points: good history lesson; if prepared to spend time, interesting read about post-WW2 communist insurgency; lots of guns (if you like that sort of thing), including numerous home-made ones; friendly staff and it's free (extra point for these). Negative points: some displays very poorly lit and explained; some extremely boring; dated feel overall.

“Mother of all museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2012

I,ve been to Kuala Lumpur lots of times and had visited all the museum there....or have i??? well, not until a friend of mine told me about the Royal Malaysia Police Museum.
Upon enter the museum, i felt its more like a cultural centre of law-enforcement...
You can see the transformation it went through over the decades of policing the country...from the mode of transport, weapons, technologies, dedicated ex-policeman profile, ex-crime lords all being show-case in this unique place.
Also the quarantine section-(my highlight point of visit) where home made weapons are used by the outlaws against the dedicated law-enforcer.
This is a must-see place if you like museum, as i felt its being under-rated in term of promoting the place for tourist....and it does set a benchmark for the rest of the world to have a museum as such in their country.
Oh, its free too!!

“An interesting history lesson”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

This museum gives a diligent insight into the development of the Royal Malaysia Police. Simultaneously you learn many interesting facts about Malaysian history. The roles and tasks of the evoluting police during different periods under different occupying forces are presented and exemplarily demonstrated by the uniforms and other police equipment. There is an interesting collection of confiscated weapons and official police weapons. Some audio-visual presentations give a glimpse about the current Royal Malaysia Police organisation and its present tasks. This museum is recommended to everyone genuinely interested in history and police work. This museum isn't a substitute for current criminal TV series.

“Great if you enjoy this type of museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2012

As the review title says, if you are into this type of museum, this is one not to miss. We have been to other police museums in other countries but I didn't even bother reviewing them. Now this one in Kuala Lumpur is worth of a review... Its official name is actually Royal Malaysia Police Museum and it was officially opened (in its current site, after renovations) in July 1999. Take the time to spend few minutes watching their introductory video, it will give you a good background of the police history in the country. We specially enjoyed their guns and knives collection and the police uniforms (female police officers are well represented). There are signs of no cameras/photos to be taken inside everywhere. No entrance fee but donations are welcome. Very well kept facilities and staff were helpful and pleasant. Not crowded at all on a Sunday afternoon (I guess everyone was at the Bird Park). Recommended.
