One of the oldest shopping area in KL, i personally prefer to go to the mall but going walk in and out these shops is also fun.

Not so fun during the rain though.
This area almost what ever you looking for is there.

Must try just to walk about around

So many shops that you will be exhausted and have sore feet by the end of the day! Some very good bargains but the street shops getting a little annoying afyer hours of very pushy retailers trying to entice you to their stand,

Best place to shop in Malaysia if you are budgrt conscious. Plethora of malls selling everything. Good photography showrooms as well

An absolutely crazy shopping experience.

Anywhere you turn shops are just never ending like a maze.

A good number of options for local food within the food court.

This is the centre of shopping malls in KL and close to a number of hotels including the Hotel Istana (Read Review). Fantastic walking distance for all sorts of goodies. This area reportedly has the largest number of malls, hotels and restaurants per square metre in the city.

The diversity of its retails outlets should satisfy the most fanatic of shopaholics.
There is also a vast array of tourist sites, craft centres, cafes, bars and watering holes to chose from.

Regarding craft unfortunately its junk. To get the real deal you have to go to the real place. That is where its made which is outside KL.

Importantly, we were not told till our last day in KL, there are FREE INNER CITY BUSES which are colour coded available and maps available on line or from you hotel. That is a really big bonus for getting around. The metro train system is regular and easy to use as well. Gets a bit more local flavour as a bonus.

The only issue which was apparent was the seedy side of the place with obvious sex worker abodes and being accosted by slimy street stall sellers who make uninvited offers of excellence in watches and other junk. Not unusual in any Asian City but the problem is you may be loaded for bear with money for you shopping spree. We purchased a slice proof carry bag with stainless inserts and metal tread in the strap and always held it close. Just be aware as anywhere.
I must say there is a huge amount of police and security presence around but opportunistic crime is everywhere.

Great place and great shops a definitive must do. We just ran out of time in 6 days so if planning make sure you allow plenty of time.
