This is a big shopping district. It compromises of newer shopping centers, older shops, street malls, cafes and restaurants. Its good to go through and have a look around, although there is nothing special here. Just depends on how much you like shopping and what you are after.

We were around 15 persons traveling on a group trip to KL, on 31st August 2013 at 10:30 AM we were walking from "My Hotel" on Bukit Bintang for watching the Malaysia day parade, a guy wearing a helmet on a bike dashed in to one of the ladies in our group and snatched a gold chain in a fraction of a second and speed away, by the time the lady shouted, the bike was not seen, he was so fast that no one noticed the number or bike, this happened just in front of the China Maternity hospital on broad day light, tried to complain to police but they said it is a common incident that happens very often to tourists in KL. Very sad that Malaysian government is not taking any actin to control such incidents in spite of depending on the tourism. We heard a similar incident from another just a day before on the same road. Malaysian gvt, please take same action.

Bukit Bintan is ike downtown of malaysia. Best to shop and eat when you have couple of hours free time at the city. It has mix of street shopping as well as boutique shopping. If you have a layover at Kuala Lumpur for a few hrs transiting through another city, this is the best place to go and feel the city.

Bukit Bintang is a sight to behold especially at sun down. The aroma of different cuisines, people spending lazy afternoons engaging in chit chats and laughters, the busy shoppers, the street vendors and other interesting things all happens in this side of the city. There are lots of shops to choose, from pricey to inexpensive. You can also use your bargaining skills in some of the shops. You can absolutely buy anything:souvenir items, shoes, bags,t shirts, trinkets and a lot more.Bukit Bintang is also a haven for food lovers and party goers. To be able to appreciate and enjoy the place it is best to walk around and take a leisure stroll around Bukit Bintang. There are lots of people especially at night....Definitely recommended if you visit Kuala Lumpur!
