“High Rise Afternoon Tea Buffet”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

If you fancy an afternoon looking all over Kuala Lumpur, you couldn't do better than by visiting the Menara KL, or KL Tower in the downtown area. The views are spectacular and depending on the weather on the day, you can all over the Klang Valley and beyond.

We booked afternoon tea vouchers via Groupon (www.groupon.my) and booked two days in advance to ensure that there was space for us. Very cheap at 260MYR (60GBP) for the four of us (two adults and two teens). However, if you buy on the day, the prices are significantly higher. Would recommend checking online before you decide to visit for cheaper tickets.

The entrance to the tower can be a little hectic with people trying to get up the tower however we waited around 10 minutes to get into the lift. It was rather hot and humid but this is the tropics and you expect this. The lift to the top takes around a minute to assent to the revolving restaurant at the top of the tower. We were greeted and shown to our table on the inside section of the area. The first thing that hits you is the actual floor moving, and then the views. The food at the afternoon tea buffet caters to the local pallet, with noodles, rice, curry, the mainstay. However, there was a reasonably good salad bar and sandwiches. Fruit punch is complementary and free flowing during the period. However, if you want water, you have to purchase at 3MYR (65pence) per bottle.
It takes around an hour for the restaurant to rotate 1 revolution and you can move around freely to take pictures.
In our ticket, we also were allowed to visit the observation deck below the restaurant. However, this is quite busy with a lot of people going to see the views, as well as some low end souvenir shops. If you go to the restaurant, I would give the observation deck a miss. Additionally. there is a small aquarium at the base, however, don't pay extra for this - go to the KLCC convention centre aquarium instead.

On the whole an enjoyable experience and we would recommend this to anyone visiting Kuala Lumpur.

Remember to check Groupon for cheap deal tickets.

The whole area and attraction is very downmarket and tacky, lots of cheap stalls etc. Reasonably expensive to ascend to the highest point and you are outside on the viewing platform so get great views but no different to Petronas Towers so I would suggest not doing both. We were originally going to eat there but you have to give 3 days notice! Not sure what the restaurant was like as they wouldnt allow us to go to that floor, so maybe its tacky like the rest of the place!

The tower gave us a fantastic view of the whole city. We saw the beryja Times Square -not sure on spelling! Which gave us first timers an area to aim at - which was in walking distance and a fantastic experience highly recommended you also need to grab the IMAX ticket while you are there!

“amazing view”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

try to go for it in the evening so you can see the city light up. Its very expensive so please try and make do of the time well. My suggestion if you want to buy souvenirs dont buy on top of the tower as they are very expensive. Its quite a walk to the Tower but they have a shuttle running as well which is always full.
