Owner description: Central Market began life as a wet market in 1888, built by Yap Ah Loy, the city’s Chinese Kapitan. It served as a prominent landmark in colonial and modern-day Kuala Lumpur. When the wet market was relocated in the 1980s, the Malaysian Heritage Society successfully petitioned against the demolition of the building. Now, Central Market Kuala Lumpur is an iconic attraction and a delightful destination for tourists, shoppers and art lovers.

“Souvenirs under one roof”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

It is a two story handicraft market right in front of "Pasar Seni" LRT station. The building itself includes a lot of shops selling handicrafts from almost every where which you can buy. There is a food court in the market and some food stall right outside of the building. I myself am not a bargaining guy, but if you are and have the talent, here is one of the places where you can use it.
Central Market is near "Petaling Street" which is known as "China Twon". There are some other stalls out side of the Central Market building, which have some nick nacks to buy. The best way for getting there is using LRT [Kelana Jaya Line] and get off train at Pasar Seni station.

“Nice layout”
Reviewed February 9, 2013 via mobile

Central Market is nice because it isn't took hectic. It is in an air conditioned mall with plenty of space to roam around. There were a lot of the same stalls so you can bargain hunt. There is also a food court and a couple of restaurants to sit down at and relax. There are also some food stalls inside and right outside with a variety of food and drinks. It is worth stopping buy to pick up some souvenirs for friends and family.

“Ideal Place for Souvenirs”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Generally, the Central Market is a riot of shops selling various souvenirs or gifts ranging from wooden masks, malaysian snacks, pottery, wood carvings, handicrafts and you can even get your potrait sketched. The market itself is relatively modern, air-conditioned and there are 2 floors, it is a shopping haven for tourists as it is an ideal place with a good selection for you to purchase souvenirs if you hadn't done so.

Central Market is of walking distances from Petaling Street, Chinatown area hence, it will be advisable for you to do this two attractions together in a day. There is also an outdoor amphitheater by the riverside hosting contemporary dance, music and cultural concerts in the evening time on selected days of the week. Very recommended if you're looking for purchasing of souvenirs! However, if you are into shopping for daily wear, then it'll not be the place for you.

Reviewed January 24, 2013

Prices are more expensive than usual, but then again it's a tourist haven. Everything's conveniently found there.
