Owner description: Central Market began life as a wet market in 1888, built by Yap Ah Loy, the city’s Chinese Kapitan. It served as a prominent landmark in colonial and modern-day Kuala Lumpur. When the wet market was relocated in the 1980s, the Malaysian Heritage Society successfully petitioned against the demolition of the building. Now, Central Market Kuala Lumpur is an iconic attraction and a delightful destination for tourists, shoppers and art lovers.

“Decent selection of souvenirs in a safe environment”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

This is a very clean and safe place to buy your souvenirs. ATMs available. Security guards are present. Very clean space and covered so no issues with the rain. Found some decent buys for the holiday gifts.

“Value for money”
Reviewed January 18, 2013 via mobile

Quite a chilled-out haven near a few areas of interest. We bought some beautiful craftworks there including rosewood boxes and other ornaments, and the prices were reasonable. It's undercover too so if the monsoon's coming down you can have a coffee and a peaceful browse. Well worth a look, especially if you want something pretty to take home.

“good for picking up some souvenirs”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

There is a wide variety of souvenirs that can be picked up her including tradiational indian, Malay and Chinese. you can also have a henna tatoo from one of the vendors. very handy is the DHL that is in the mall so you can post any of your finds if you have realised that you bag will be too full. There is a small food court in the central market but the number of outlets will ensure you find something you enjoy.

It is worth visiting. We were 10 girls so we had 2 security guys with us to make sure we would be ok.

It was very interesting to see all the different little shoppes and negotiate with the vendors. Got some nice souvenirs for my family and friends.

It is also very interesting decorated Inside ... Don't forget it's not Beverly Hills but its worth a visit get some laughs with the nice people and see some interesting things

“Worth a look and a great place for last minute souvenir shopping”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

If you're looking for Malaysian goodies, this is a good place to go. You can find goodies here that you won't see in the China Town street market. The prices can range depending on your haggling abilities, and there's a good variety of food and refreshment for when you either want to eat a full meal or just a snack.

Definitely have to try the fish massage. My friend and I went back just to do it again. It's quite an experience specially for the ticklish.I had sweat and tears trailing down my face from laughing so much. Worth it to have such smooth and clean feet afterwards. And the price is more than reasonable. 5RM for 10 minutes.
