“Perfectly good place to eat”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

This restaurant is located next to the Bird Park and can be accessed from both inside the park and from the car park.

It's perfectly clean, if a little crowded, inside, and the menu is a mix of local and western dishes, so there should be something for everyone. Price wise, it's a little more expensive than the similar food would cost you in a Mall foodcourt, but it's still cheap by UK standards. The service is also very fast and friendly and the food (char kwey teow and satay) was perfectly acceptable.

It's also one of the few places to eat within the Lake Gardens unless you wander down to the more formal restaurant in the Islamic Art Museum or grab a taxi back into town.

“Good food, great area”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

I enjoyed my fresh coconut, interesting breakfast, and decent service, but the highlight was the cool atmosphere and the birds hanging around while you eat. I didn't pay attention to the prices, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap. The only negative I can say about this place was that they didn't open on time, which delayed my entrance to the bird park.

There wasn't anything spectacular about Hornbill Restaurant and Cafe, but if you're too hungry to find cheaper food before or after seeing the birds, then stop in, order a coconut, and sit for a while.

“Lunch bird watching”
Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

Good experience. Food is not very good but the expierince of eating while big birds fly on you table looking for some crumbles was very unique. Maybe just go for an icecream instead? :)

“Great view!”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

We knew we'd be paying a little more for the food here but we figured we'd give it a shot since we were already at the bird park and the view from the restauarant is pretty neat. The food is expensive (expecially for backpackers) and was just alright. We still enjoyed ourselves, though!

“High tea at the hornbill.”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

We had a lovely afternoon tea here, we were asked what blend of tea we would prefer, I had coffee, both came in a large pot with about 4cups in it. Everything on the tiered stand was prepared fresh, only problem our scone was more like a rock cake, but enjoyable. Sitting out on the balcony overlooking the tree canopy is beautiful.
