We stayed at the Lok Ann for two nights. It is in a great location right opposite the Petaling Street night markets. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The decor can only be described as quirky. If you are looking for full serviced rooms and luxury then this hotel is not for you. The room was a little bit dark but hey who is in their room all day when on holidays. There was no lift so it would not be for anyone having trouble with stairs. There was a communal room with a t.v. but we did not use it. We arranged a taxi back to LCCT with the staff that was almost half the price charged by the pre-paid taxi service. The only real downside of this hotel was the noise from the street - traffic and the night market - but this did not continue until late. On the up-side it is close to heaps of food places, public transport and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again.

We have been to Lok Ann two times in september and it has been the perfect place for us to discover KL, especially Chinatown.
Placed right opposite to Petaling Street and the nightmarket you find Lok Ann Hotel in the heart of Chinatown.

With a big variety of rooms Lok Ann Hotel offers rooms for everyone and almost everything you want. AC/Fan, Wifi, private / shared bathrooms, clean rooms, TV in the lobby, a terrace. Everything to relax after a wild day in Chinatown. The rooms are big and clean. The beds are fine and if you have any complains you should just talk to Willie.

Willie, the owner, is a great guy. Just ask him and you will get the best advices on how and where to travel in Malaysia. We sat down with him and he made a plan for us where we should go. We did what he told us and it was a perfect backpack trip.

Once we got back to KL he took great care of us when we needed a doctor (thanks so much!!!), he walked us through backyard places in Chinatown and showed us great places where we could grab some food.

If you are looking for a really warm and welcoming place just go to Lok Ann or Birdnest and talk to Willie. Probably the best way to discover Chinatown and KL.

Never have my boyfriend and I thought we could live in an old hotel for a total of 3 months in KL! We stayed in a double bedroom with a price of RM62 after having Willi give us a deal for staying for more than a week. It is an old hotel but the rooms, bathrooms and sheets are clean.

We even called it 'our apartment' just because we got accustommed to the place really quickly and somehow felt at home.

You know the feeling when someone makes your day feel just better seeing them? There was an elderly man whom we referred to as "Uncle" and he was it. Willi was also an interesting chap who talks to you like a friend or 'brother'. I've seen him having long chats with some of the guests so this its not just all business in this place.

The 2nd time we returned, we also looked for Lok Ann to stay after being away from it for about 2 months and Uncle remembered us and was ever so ready to prepare the room for us. He asked us to rest in the living room while he did his best to prepare us the room at the same price as before.

Helena one of the staffs was also very concerned when my boyfriend had to get his laundry early one morning and it wasn't ready (not their fault), which left him feeling nice about it.

You could feel comfortable in this place for sure although yes there was the occassional appearance of Mickey Mouse and maybe the toilet flush got cranky for a bit but for the most part, you won't 'suffer' or experience anything too negative.

It really was quite comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the room just eating crisps, watching movies, playing online Scrabble and downloading Dexter.

It has many noises from the traffic and also a Chinese tune played on a massive screen which stayed in our heads after 1 week of leaving the place. However, it is not a bad kind of noise that would irritate you in any way.

The location is great as its very central and close to everything you would need.

The hotel is situated right near Chinatown.
I stayed in a comfortable shared bathroom mixed dorm.
Awesome place - the structure adds to the character of this amazing place.
The Indian guy at reception will inform you on everything KL has to offer!!

We moved here from birdsnest as wanted a private bathroom and its their sister hotel. Paid 80rm a night so its not cheap!

The rooms are a good size however really dark as 2 tiny lights with dark grey and navy painted walls. It does however have a certain rising damp style charm and had we not had the issue that we had it would have been ok.

However,

On the first night around 2am the power in our room went off while we were asleep, woke up as stupidly hot without the ac and fan power. Having spent a lot of time in Asia we undertand it happens so assumed was a power cut and would be back on shortly but no joy. Was out all night resultimg in a ver uncomfortable night in what felt like a sweaty prison cell.

We spoke to reception the following morning who (after 2 people questioning my ability to realise the key fob goes in the slot for electric) sent some guy up to look. Turns out the fuse had blown and was fixed for the 2nd night.

What annoyed me was that this fuse blowing had also blown up both my ipad charger and my phone charger! Not so much as an apology from the manager let alone the offer to reduce the room. We spoke to Willi about the ac and power issue as we felt we were paying through the nose and only gettimg half of what we paid for and he seemed to tactfully disappear!

I am still furious that I am over £40 out of pocket for having to replace items of my possessions broken due to this hotels shoddy electrics! I am even more furious at thr blaze approach of the vile woman on reception who was extremely rude this morning when i sugessted it would be an appropriate gesture to reduce the room rate by half the cost of my electrical items they had contibuted to ruining!

Yes there are rats, yes there are cockroaches but the female owner is more offensive than any of those! Do yoursleves a favour theres better places at this price!

The room itself was clean, bed comfortable, bathroom/shower -all working well (we stayed in double room). Unfortunately you can see big cockroaches running through the kitchen and rats running around the open patio-like area. When we mentioned the rats to the guy in the reception he just smiled.
On positive note, very close to Petaling Street and the market, great connection to other part of the city. The prise is good as well.

We stayed at Lok Ann on two different stays in KL. We enjoyed both stays. The rooms are spacious and have high ceilings, a/c, and ceiling fans. The attached baths are basic but clean. The hotel provides clean white sheets and towels and comfy beds. Wi-fi worked in the rooms and the included breakfast was your basic eggs and toast but good. It is just across the street from the Petaling pedestrian street with all of its food options and shopping. It is also a short walk to the Pudu bus station and two lightrail stops. The rooms can be noisy during the day and evening but quiet down around 11-midnight or so when the street noise quiets down. The staff was the best part. Everyone we had dealings with were friendly, helpful, professional, and smiling. And, yes, we did see some animals of the rodent type poking around in the plants out on the terrace, but we've seen them all over the city. They just come with the 'big city' territory.
