“Fell for this!!”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

The title says it all. I just fell for this place, right from the 3rd minute when the receptionist gave me a free upgrade to the executive suite. The service was impeccable until the last minute of leaving the place. The pool bar was great, though thick with crowd but hey, it was friday night.
The suite was facing the petronas over seeing the Shangri-La and it's pool. What a view!! Just the perfect home away from home, all clean and wonderfully done.
Few minutes after checking the room, there a knock on the door and we were plesantly surprised to see 3 people handing us a delicate small box with 2 silky smooth chocs wrapped in gold wrapper. Just a sweet welcome I believe.

The breakfast was great too, ofcourse!!

Overall, 5 stars and a "must try" recommendation!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the Twin tower!!

We are not really particular on the state of the hotel as a lot of things are under renovation. But I was extremely amazed of the Hotel staff attitude! ( from the reception to F& B staff ...very lousy and unfriendly). The worst service I've ever encountered! they've got no idea what hospitality is!

Generally this is a convenient hotel for looking around KL, well placed in the city for all the sights. The staff were helpful, especially when giving directions to the sights and helping with onward travel arrangements.
The room was big and comfortable, and we were particularly happy as we had a free upgrade to a suite.

Mixed reviews on TripAdvisor for the PRHS, made me a little uncertain about what to expect.
I booked through PRHS website getting a 65% reduction on the normal room rate for a deluxe suite, very good value.
On arrival pleasant welcoming concierge staff escorted us to reception to check in, all went reasonably smoothly and we were given a deluxe suite on level 29.
The hotel shares the building with KH Tower. There is construction, possibly demolition of the high rise next door to the hotel or renovating the existing building...and on the basement level where the mini mart and hair salon are located, a lot of renovation going on there.
At this basement level is Geo Cafe, but I don't think the businesses are linked to the hotel itself.
The hotel lobby is on level seven, and you need to use the other lift to go from level seven to the basement floor.
The mini mart closes at 7.15pm weeknights and closed on Sundays!
Around the hotel are few restaurants or fast food outlets, but the idea of cooking facilities in the suites can be helpful, but to have any cooking items you need to contact housekeeping.
Be aware that everything in the suite is catered for, and a price list on what each item, including crockery and cutlery and linen is in the folder on the coffee table in the suite.
I was certainly impressed by the size of the deluxe suite. Not the ordinary hotel room at all, and first thoughts were it was just a bit too big!! But that idea soon changed as we got very comfortable in the suite and enjoying the views from the kitchennette window.
Plenty of television channels available on flat screen LCD televisions. Excellent reception.
The bathroom has a bath tub, spacious shower stall, bidet toilet and complimentary hotel branded toiletries.
Towels were always fresh and clean, and the shower could be adjusted from soft to hard water output.
There are slippers, robes, an iron and ironing board for use in the suite.
The rooms are extremely quiet and little if any disturbance from other guests. The bedrooms have black out curtains and prevent most of the early daylight from lighting up the bedroom.
The suites are extremely spacious and the furniture is dated but it's certainly okay. The bed is very comfortable.
Complimentary WiFi was excellent, and the rate included an excellent hot and cold buffet breakfast at Soi 23, serving eggs to order, toast and condiments and various types of bread, fruits and cereals, juices, hash browns and baked beans a some Asian foods.. in the evening Soi is a Thai restaurant.
Aian countries do not eat pork, so westerners used to bacon get a replica of bacon at hotels, called beef bacon or something, but not sure at all what it is! However enjoyed breakfast it was very ncie and a great way to start the day.
You are given a card to be stamped on arriving at Soi for breakfast to record your days available for breakfast.
The best part is you are having breakfast right next to the towering KL Tower, if you get the table right by the window and you gaze right up the tower to the top, and the views are awesome.
Room service is available. Was very good with the burger and fries meal, but the banana ice cream desert arrived with apologies there was no banana!
A few days later we were upgraded to an executive suite (still on level 29) due to some leaking from the air conditioning system. This was amazing even bigger than the deluxe suite with an extra LCD TV in the bedroom, and an amazing view of the Petronas Towers. Also a microwave in the kitchen area.
The hotel delivers a daily english newspaper each morning, The Star...but there is no mini bar. The exceutive suite has floor to ceiling windows and great views of KLCC and city area.
To get an executive suite was a real bonus, I notice there is so much storage in these suites they are obviously mainly designed to cater for long term residents, of which I would imagine would occur from time to time. However, for hotel guests to enjoy the luxury of the executive suite was excellent and enjoyed it very much.
For the extra, I would go for executive suite. as it is very worthwhile if you are staying for a few days.
Thankyou to the staff for organising such a great change and upgrade at no extra expense!
In the deluxe suite the views were good too. The rooms are obviously not on the side where the construction works are taking place.
Across the road from KL Menara Tower, just a walk across the street to the tower shuttle bus stop, and go free up to the tower and it has a regaular service running continuously.
Make a visit for the sights of the city, and maybe see some local silver monkeys that inhabit the area. We were lucky enough to meet quite a lot of them on our visit during the day, and they were from the nearby forest reserve, but the shop staff did say they do not normally come that close to the tower, so we struck it lucky.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, however, avoid the expensive taxis that are parked in the forecourt of the hotel. The budget taxis are outside on the road near the KL Tower entrance.
The locality is very good along with most hotels in the Golden Triangle, the walk along Jalan P Ramlee to KLCC takes about 10 minutes or 15ringgitt in a budget taxi. There are a few restaurants within walking distance including the Beach bar Club, along Jalan P Ramlee, Malaysias favourite bar, the reception area has a map of local places to go to and staff will help as their english is very good.
Take taxis anywhere from outside the hotel for about 15ringgitt, and while they are not flash, and their driving is a bit bewildering, you seem to get there, even have the odd petrol stop on the way!
The rooftop Luna bar and pool is excellent, with views of the KL Tower and Twin Towers. The bar was even decorated for halloween. Great views from the couches, and the pool is of a fairly big size for some relaxing swimming on a hot KL afternoon.
Very few used the pool during the day while we there, but closes at 7pm and becomes a nightclub. Some floors may be disturbed by the noise, but not on level 29.
A coin operated laundrette seemed to annoy some guests who could not get their washing dry, and to use this you need to go to reception and get a tag and 20ringgitt added to your account. You need a tag each time you want to use the laundrette.
In the lobby area is a pc in Regency care room availabe for use to hotel guests.
The hotel doe's not have souvenirs or even printed brochures available, (like Traders Hotel, were we stayed last year) not sure why KL hotels do not have a souvenir range for guests. Postcards, brochures, posters, keychains and magnets would be great! How about it PRHS!!
I also notice on TripAdvisor reviews that management seem to chose not to respond to reviews. I find this particularly difficult to understand, as I sure would like to see the hotel management concern themselves with guests reviews and it would then let us know they are taking note of reviews and will take the necessary and appropriate action where needed.
I cannot find anything at all that is negative to say about this hotel, there are many good ones in KL, and a lot to choose from, but for value and room size, this would certainly be the best value available.
They present a great hotel at affordable prices with many extras, and a rooftop poool, couldn't ask for more than you get at PRHS. Exceptionally great! We stayed at Traders Hotel, KLCC in 2011...and in comparison, PRHS wins hands down in my books! Traders Hotel was excellent, but you get more and spacious suites at PRHS a big difference.
I would totally recommend PRHS, great location, excellent staff, great suites and service, and would stay again without hesitation if the room rate is still good value!
Thanks to Daniel Chong, general manager, who took the time to write and thanking us for staying prior to departure, a nice PR exercise and appreciated, and Danial and reception staff.
Great job and yes housekeeping do a great job too.

I've stayed in the Pacific Regency three times now, all on business. However it would be well worth a stay for anyone on holiday. The value is brilliant, it's cheap in comparison to some of the big name hotels on offer in KL and the facilities are great.

The corridors are a bit dingy but the rooms are spacious and clean. On my most recent visit I had a room with a fantastic view of the Petronas Towers. One of the rooms I stayed in had its own kitchen area which would be great if you are looking for a self catering option.

Location wise, you have a ten minute walk to KLCC and Petronas Towers along a street with plenty of restaurants and bars. You're also directly opposite the KL Tower so it's a good central place to base yourself.

Facility wise, the rooftop swimming pool (for guests only) is absolutely brilliant. The view over to the Petronas Towers is breathtaking. There is also a bar by the swimming pool, so it's a great place to unwind after a hot and sweaty day with a cold beer taking in the breathtaking views. The swimming pool closes at 7pm and the bar turns a bit more trendy with the lights on and music blaring (couldn't hear it from my room).

Free Wifi and the buffet breakfast is good, enough to cater for most people's taste (Asian and Western options).

I will no doubt stay here again and have recommended this hotel to colleagues and friends visiting KL.

We stayed here for 3 nights in total, the location is good - opposite the KL tower and a close walk to the bars and restaurants in Bukit Bintang and to the Petronas Towers.
The rooftop bar and pool on the hotel was impressive and well worth a visit for a drink .. although is a little expensive in comparison to other places.
We stayed in a basic suite - the rooms were spacious and had good views over the city but the decor could do with a bit of an update - it wasn't inkeeping with the rest of the hotel.
Was a bit disappointed that the taxi's outside of the hotel seemed to charge alot more than a taxi you can hail outside despite asking for a "budget" taxi.

Overall a good stay at a reasonable price in a great location with a few improvements needed.

We have a suite with a little kitchen and spacious king size bed room for 90 USD/night. It's nice generally but a little bit off the Map if you really spend a lot of time in KLCC. But still by 10 mins walk you will reach there. The hotel is just opposite KLTower and offers a nice view if you book the tower view room and the night sight is amazing!!The price is a little bit higher but still worth a try.
