Pearl International Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Ranked #99 of 346 Hotels in Kuala Lumpur
Reviewed February 9, 2014

Pearl International Hotel markets itself as being midway of KL and PJ - it may not be the best option for tourists - as it's not close to the LRT (public train transport) or to the main tourist sites. However, they offer a very good price for meeting packages (especially the corporate rate for government).

Pro's
1. The hotel has been refurbished - new design in the rooms, new furniture.
2. Overall - clean, no carpet smell or smoke smell in rooms, clean hallways
3. Friendly and courteous staff (reception, banquet, sales)
4. Very clean swimming pool on the 5th floor - (the main pool is 1.5m deep across, so it might not be safe for kids. there's a shallow pool too)
5. Located above a shopping mall - there's a supermarket, 7-11, Starbucks, Subway, Kenny Rogers, mamak, all downstairs, very convenient

Con's
1. Rooms were refurbished - but sheets weren't! I read about stained sheets in tripadvisor.. so I checked mine when I got into my room - old stain spots were visible on both sheets of the beds in my room! - I called housekeeping and they changed the sheets promptly
2. Lack of clear TV channels - only the local TV channels were clear, the rest were fuzzy in my room

Average points because...
1. Some parts of the hotel is still old and need maintenance, refurbishing - meeting rooms
2. Food selection during meals is repetitive - if you stay here for 2 days, you'll be eating the same dishes cooked in slightly different styles over again
3. Lack of access to reliable public transport

I quite like the hotel - but to move from average to good - they really need to look into the finer details of what they offer - new sheets, TV channels, better food, maybe free shuttle service too.

It's a place to consider for big meeting events or conferences - they offer very competitive group package pricing. If you're a tourist and only have a few days in KL to visit main attractions, Pearl may not be the option unless you don't mind taking taxi rides everywhere.

The rooms and bathrooms are big and clean. The entire hotel is very clean. Hotel staff are helpful. The buffet breakfast - They served continental and had many dishes and was very delicious. Would recommend this hotel for lodging when in Malaysia.

This hotel basically only mean to serve Bangladeshi or Indian tourist n because of that they treated all local Malaysians like them .rooms run down n the service was terrible .
When we went for the breakfast at 7.40am, the Bangladeshi waiter ask us to go to floor 23 instead if 5th floor . Upon entering , the Bangladeshi waiter check my voucher as if we dine n dashed. The sambal for nasi lemak was too salty n the roti canai was over cooked , I think were the left over from yesterday .The same waiter came to us again accusing us the voucher was written in different date . 8am sharp they closed the session reason they wanted to move to 5 th floor .we thought since they food were bad , we thought of killing the time with a glass of tea . Without even finish , another Bangladeshi waiter came n asked if he can take away the glass !our immediate feeling was he was trying to chase us out .
This was the worst hotel experience we ever had n my advise us : don't ever stay in this hotel , they built the hotel to insult the guest ! What the f...

What ever you receive in the hotel is with mile. Staff is most courteous and supporting. They don't take much time to make you enter in the room. Size of rooms and bathroom is wide and large. Cleanliness in the hotel is up to mark. Staff at reception and house keeping is fast and attentive and even ready to share your luggage up to room. Buffet break fast is extensive enough to cover everyone's choice. Food served was delicious and delectable. Over all good family hotel. Only issue was the location of hotel. It is bit far off from city and most of happening places in Kuala Lumpur are at distance. Keeping the price tag and performance it is recommendable hotel for people from all walks of life.

Room Tip: Rooms on rear side of hotel are better and large in size

Very terrible hotel with bad service, bad rooms with 18th century tv and cockroaches all around the room to welcome you. The reception people are very rude and don't know how to talk with the guest.Malaysia is good place with good people but if you are going to malaysia for the first time and you go to this hotel then your impression for malaysia can go bad.so if you want to have good impression about Malaysia then don't ever book this hotel.
