“Slowest and Most Rickety Lifts in Malaysia”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

It gets 2 stars because the room I had was decent (room2513) and the staff are polite and friendly. Everything else was unimpressive for the class of hotel that it falls under - dangerous, scary and SLOW lifts, VERY confusing layout of meeting and conference facilities, and located in Chow Kit, which is one of the most congested and crime-prone area in the city.

Really amazed by the stay and the services and that too in affordable price. I just came with my parents and they enjoined the stay and the promotional offers like Wi-Fi, unlimited free cafeteria, good multi cuisine breakfast including idly and upma. Amazing view of twin towers from room which keeps awake and sightseeing the whole night.

Over all the service is poor. I went for a 2 days training at Grand Seasons Hotels. The tea break and lunch was not nice. The worst they didn't put a tag to tell us what is the individual dish. If you can't take beef or lamb, too bad you have to figure out on your own especially when they serve us murtabak (chicken, lamb or beef).

There was no electricity on the 2nd day of the training. The management team only came and told us half an hour later it was due to TNB fault.

The toilet was dirty and since the hotel was full of people coming for training they should get someone to stand by at all times to keep the toilet cleans. Worst one of the toilet bulb was fius and you felt creepy in a hotel toilet.

The staff there must learn to smile since they are in the service industry.

The hotel rooms were good but they only had 2 functioning elevators for the 4 days we stayed there. We had to wait 15 to 20 minutes each time for the elevator. We would not stay here again mainly because there are better options in bukitbintang. I would recommend this place to indian tourists.

I got a chance to book my room for about 50$ a night for three nights, waiting for my friend's wedding at the same hotel. Overall, the price is acceptable for a 4 stars hotel. The hotel restaurants offer surprisingly delicious and reasonable or cheap food. The bar is good too. The biggest set off during my stay was the stupidly slow elevators, and only two of them are working, while we have like 50 people waiting. There was a time when I have to wait for 30 minute to get in the elevator and another 30 minutes to get to the floor I want, since it stops almost every floor. Apart from this, the hotel are great, staff are helpful and friendly.

Ah not to mention, the hotel is 20 minutes away from closest shopping center or city center. However there are few of the local food stores behind the hotel, so you can walk around and enjoying local's offers.

Room Tip: Ask to check the room, especially bath room. Tell them to fix any malfunctioned bath tube or change...

we checked-in on 20th May'13, the hotel has a warm front office team, we were booked in superior room and was advised for a 40Ringet for 2 nights, initially thought its another hook but took a chance and got upgraded to dlx room but let me confess its truly a wise decision and worth the money.. what a view of PETRONAS, KL tower and the city from the room its just amazing and was thanking for the wise inputs given by the hotel staff.

The rooms were quite big and clean. The breakfast menu was delight and had a gr8 spread for both veggies/non veggies. if at all anything we will cherish long from KL is this hotel and its view of the city from the dlx room - simply superb

one pain is though they had 6 to 7 lifts the waiting time was lot because of non operational of 3-4 lifts..

we had 2days in the city and visited places like Batu caves, KLtower, Kings palace, Butterfly garden and bird sanctuary worth the watch. Mono rail raid is good to experience.

Shoppers suggest be careful in your negotiations many of them get cheated. General advise to Travellers pl. ensure you carry no valuables while roaming the city, its not safe for night say after 9pm..

Room Tip: pl ask for dlx room on 26/27th floor

Taxis were pretty cheap so it wasn't the end of the world but we did feel out of it at this hotel.

I thought it would be easy to use the monorail to get about - but hey this is the real world. We tried to find it and went the wrong way. Within 50m we had polite people warning us to be careful as it was dodgy! Find the station - they don't take card. So had to get cash. Then they don't take change....and the saga continued....

The hotel is next to a very rough part of the town. No way we felt we could venture out for late drinks - I don't think there was anywhere anyways! Hence why we holed up in their hotel bar a few nights for a couple.

We are not very good with a map and orientation - I know we are not but seriously has anyone else struggled to find the pertonas towers?!!! To finally get infront of them to get some photos took some doing. That shopping mall was a nightmare - once in you couldn't get out. Like a miaze.. Smart that really!

The hotel was really old and worn out. I bet a few decades ago it was great. We did get a fantastic view of the Petronas towers but that was about it. One thread bear towel each no hand towels. The bathroom was older than KL! We had very noisey neighbours that never seem to sleep.

We stopped in the bar a few nights - the waiter was very nice and helpful. His taste in television was questionable. I think he was deaf too. Had the TV so loud! He was Sri Lanken and if you knew his salary he earned for all the 12-14 hour shifts you would be appalled.

This hotel seemed to cater more for local / muslim tourists and business people? We were the only typcial white tourists. The slight downside to this was other guests would stare at you somtimes not in a good way. Believe me we dressed conservatively and we still got some nasty looks. This certainly had a big advantage that brekfast was amazing. Great opportunity to sample local cuisine! Proper curry for brekfast etc!

Another good thihg is the swimming pools - pleasently nice. Hardly used - again I think the guest types were the reason for this. Shame it doesnt get the sun until after midday but when it did - it was cracking.

All in all I really think you could get a better hotel for the money.

I combined a stop off at KL because I went to Bali and it is a huge trip! 12/13 hours to KL fro Heathrow then another 3 plus hours to Bali. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't stop at KL. I doubt i will ever stop in KL again - I will probably just transit through.

Of all my travels and stop off in cities, this was the least impressive. Other than the petronas towers I didn't think there was alot to see and do. Lacked culture. We somteimes struggled to get alcohol as well. When you did it was carlsberg everywhere! Why could I not have a tiger beer in Malaysia?1 Confused doesn't cover it. The odd time we did find it on tap - it was amazing!

When it is hot it is nice to stop for a beer?! As epxected it was expensive. We were hoping to try more authentic food but again we struggled to find this (especially if you want a beer).

I am sure this review comes across pretty damning - sorry but I think KL is totally overrated and this hotel added zero to the party!
