“Greateast Location, Can be improved”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

Nice place, very accomodative, great ambiance, near KLCC and LRT train station. Corus Hotel located in a very prime area and very much easily accessible to shopping complex, embassies as well great location.

The rooms is OK. Well represented as well well designed. Possible I got a very good room maybe. The front line staff are helpful and not forget the reservation team are very much assisting and guiding on the reservations.

I am not commenting on the food because I don't have any in the hotel as the KLCC is so nearby.

Overall, it is a good place to stop by for a short time especially when yu are in business trip.

II booked in this hotel for an overnight stay last month. The primary consideration was the published four-star rating for this property and because I had a next-day plan to avail Aeroline Coach Service from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore (Aeroline KL City Terminal is located at this hotel). However, my experiences at Corus proved miserable from the very check-in stage. The booking was pre-paid and I was to make a deposit for the 'incidental and other charges'. As a frequent traveller I am aware of such provision so I had no problem with this. But as I produced by credit card for the purpose, in addition to swiping the card and obtaining my signature on the authorization slip, the man insisted on noting down the security code of my card account on a separate piece of paper which was unacceptable for security reasons, so I preferred cash payment option for bills. Then as I arrived in the room allocated to me I found it too noisy. When I phoned up the Reception, I was told some renovation work was going on downstairs which would stop soon. More than half hour passed but the noise did not stop, so I had to call the Reception again. A Supervisor level staff came over to my room to extend his "apologies" saying the work downstairs had been stopped. When I pointed out that the noise was still there, he looked confused and helpless. Finally, one of his accompanying staff members discovered that the noise was being generated by the switch of the air-conditioning unit (revealing poor maintenance). The room was changed for me and in the process the episode cost me more than an hour. The new room, though without noise, had several other limitations. There was a work desk but I had difficulty in locating the switch for the table lamp at the desk , so awkwardly located under the table that any man without the skill of some acrobatic would run the risk of injuring his muscle for having to do awkward bending of the knee and the waistline).
Other hotel services also leave much to be desired. There is a much-advertised fitness/massage centre for the guest to try to relieve the stress after the pre-check in journey. I kept ringing the phone extension number of the facility for over an hour (very much within the working hours) but got no response. The buffet breakfast in the following morning also proved less than adequate or satisfactory by any standard.
The bottom line: Location - Good (8 - 10 minutes’ walk from the Twin Tower); Management and Amenities - Poor.

This hotel is a bit run down. Even if the lobby is flash, the rooms and corridors need some redecorating. The carpet was sticky in the room which wasn't very spacious and the bathroom looked old.
The staff was friendly.
The advantage of this hotel is to be situated 2 minutes away from the LRT Station and 5 minutes walk from the Twin Towers. Moreover, they provide a free shuttle (3 times a day) to go to Bukit Bintang.

We stayed at Corus for 3 nights in October. It's located in a great spot, central to shopping centres, places to eat and tourist attractions. We found that there was a good variety of food for breakfast, I know some people have complained about there being little food available or food not being topped up, however we never found this to be the case. The staff were also very friendly. The concierge would give us an estimate for the taxi fares to various destinations so we knew what was reasonable to pay as you have to agree on a price with the taxi driver before getting in.
We had requested a rollaway bed for our toddler when we booked, however when we arrived we were told that they only had cots.
There are also renovations happening at the moment, which we were not advised of. It wasn't a problem except on the day that they were working in the rooms on our floor including next door which was very noisy with drilling. After making enquiries we were told that it would only be for one day. Still a warning before hand would have been good as our two year old toddler had been trying to sleep.

We were a bit disappointed with the Corus. Not only was the location (albeit across the road from the Twin Towers) a bit out of the way, but the very glamorous lobby gave way to tired corridors and spartan rooms.

There wasn't even a picture on the wall!! The bathroom was tired too, despite all the flashily packaged shampoo and bath gel.

At least we could get CNN and BBC, and once we had sorted out the complexities of our room number and wifi (surely our room number is the same one as it has on the door????) and paid for the access, we were relatively comfortable.

The dining experience is fine - but it is seriously expensive compared with eateries around the city.

Don't expect much help with where to go and clear directions either.

We did not chose the Corus, it was part of a package - the other hotels have been a bit blah too, but certainly better than this.

That all said, we had a great time in KL - even in the middle of the tropical thunderstorm!!

I stayed at the hotel in Oct and found it to be a typical business hotel and the personal touch missing. Although i had already intimated requirement of 2 xtra beds in my suit, it was not done n took them about 3 hrs to do it. Stark contrast with YMCA house in Singapore where my room with xtra beds were ready on arrival. A word of caution...You may have heard about purse snatching in and around the klcc area due to high tourist density. Well...we got to experience it fr real when whilst walkjng back towards the hotel from Surya mall KLCC a lone motorcyclist snatched my mothers handbag n madeoff. luckely she let go n was not injured. Later on i realised that it was partially my mistake walking on a lonely stretch late night n not taking basic precaution like keeping lookout fr motor cyclists and ensuring ladies walk on far end of footpath well away from reach of these motorcycle thugs. lodged a complaint with the nearby tourist police where i came to know that this was a regular occurance in the area. My issue with the hotel management is that since many first timers like me come to stay here, the least they can do is to inform of such possibilities by notice boards or pamplets or verbally on checking in. had i been informed.... probably things could have been different. But as i said earlier its a business hotel n they dont really care that way....i wont recommend it fr tourists and would probably stick to a property in bukit bintang area close to shopping zone

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

In the month of October 2012, we spent two times at Corus Hotel, once in the executive room and once in the standard room. Well, the executive room was a little bit spacious, nothing extraordinary, plain and simple. Only advantage is getting the benefits of the executive lounge. We had breakfast at executive lounge where only a few people came for breakfast and it was much more relaxing. The number of food items though was hand counted but not bad. We had dinner at the ground floor restaurant where a big delegation from an African country was enjoying the food. Live dances were going on in the bar. It was quite noisy but lively too. We saw a bunch of sandals and shoes in front of a room at the long narrow corridors. Probably the visitors to that room did not want to take sandals inside the room.
The hotel staff received us well. The services and cleanliness of the hotel was good but I find the room rate of a bit high with the current standard. Pool area looked really run down. It was strange that one hotel booking company quoted 600 Singapore dollars for that kind of hotel just because the hotel was almost fully booked when we checked in for the second time. After direct negotiation with the hotel, we got it for USD 180. With very limited TV Channels, there was nothing to do at night.
There was free internet connection in the executive floor but not in the standard rooms. One advantage of the hotel was the luxurious coach to Singapore-Malaysia leave from this hotel. So, it was just easy for us to step in to the hotel immediately getting down from the bus. It saved us from travelling again by taxi to other hotels. The other big advantage was the K Avenue was close by and we could walk there to take the train. During rush hours, the journey by LRT was the best to avoid the delays on the road.
The views from the rooms were nice. The Petronas twin towers, Suria KLCC and other tall buildings were visible. Overall, it was useful to stay in this hotel considering the facilities surrounding it.

Room Tip: Non-smoking floors are definitely better
