“Great hotel close to Petronis towers.”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

We stayed at the Hotel Maya for 5 nights a beautiful hotel close to the Petronis towers.
We had the breakfasts every morning and they were plentiful, one night we went to the Skybar for drinks and the views were incredible, after 9 pm guests can have free tea and coffee and sweets. Would recommend this hotel, very comfortable beds and very clean.

This hotel is located virtually opposite the front entrance into Petronas Towers. The hotel is an older hotel that has had a major facelift. Unfortunately it's starting to show in the rooms, not so much in the foyer or restaurants. We paid for & got a premium room facing the towers which was worth the extra paid on the 22nd floor.
The hydrotherapy pool is not large nor are there seperate hydro spas but the massage received from the hydro jets in the pool was just what we needed after a 10 hr flight. I would definately stay here again just for the 90 minutes i'd spend in the hydro pool & the sky bar on the 18th floor which faces the towers. The buffet breakfast was very nice & had a large selection of european & asian breakfast selections.

I stayed in the Hotel Maya in November 2012 and liked the hotel a lot. I would stay there again when I go back to KL. I was upgraded to a deluxe suite, which was very nice. I faced the cemetery, or backside. Some negatives: once the cleaner forgot to pick up my laundry, another day he forgot to get my dry cleaning. Quickly fixed. The rooms are a bit dated, but so what? It's Asia and it has a timeless elegance. The hardwood floors are very nice and the furniture is minimalistic, which I liked a lot too.

This is a disgrace of a hotel. The staff are in need of training urgently. We asked for water, got brought out warm water 3 times, c'mon guys this is simple customer service and they can't do that. The room was ok until we had a shower and noticed it was leaking all over the floor, all the fixings like taps etc were all loose and dodgy. No music channel as well when they said they had it....
Watch when you order food, they go a bit crazy with olives as a garnish!. On checking out there was not even a gesture on how was your stay! 5 star hotel, more like a 2 star.

On the plus side the view was nice.

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel!!!

This is my second review of Maya Hotel. Booked this Hotel on our past good experience. But this time we are little disappointed on their service. Some Pros & Cons:-

Positives:-

1. Excellent Location- Petronas, Surya KLCC 3 minute walking distance
2. Hydrotherapy Pool—Must try for a different experience
3. Breakfast – Wide choice with daily change. Staffs are attentive & quick.
4. Big rooms, some facing Twin Towers/KL Towers.

Negatives:-

1. Reception staff to be trained for 5 star standard. They do not know how to handle their Guest. I think Concierge is more helpful than reception staff.
2. Rooms, Toilets needs renovation and old Lighting, all fittings to be replaced with new.
3. Bad smell in room on first entrance and found Ants lining up from corner to corner.
4. Room Service to be more attentive.

We enjoyed our trip, walked in front of Petronas towers plenty of time, and had dined at Nasi Kandar Pelita several time.

However, to be honest, we may not choose Maya Hotel if we come back to KUL next time.

Room Tip: Deluxe Suite facing Twin Towers..

Convenient location close to twin towers, suria shopping mall and eateries. We booked a mystery wotif but asked for a view of the towers, which was fantastic. Room was comfortable, bathroom was bigger than average.  Windows could open which was nice, and you could hear chanting in the morning.

Staff were generally helpful but not particularly welcoming. Key card on occasion failed in the lift, or failed to open room. Wifi connection a disaster.  Expect to visit front desk at least 4 times and wait in line with similarly bemused visitors.  I agree with other reviewers that reception seem unnervingly good at "apologising for any inconvenience".

Perhaps I would look elsewhere next time, but Hotel Maya is worthy of consideration.  If you intend to make use of the view, get in soon..construction has begun on a high rise across the road, right in the line of sight.

jr suite. (facing kl tower)

room - beautifully design (in terms of the location of the tv, bed, living area & the bathtub). comfortable beds & pillows. great view at night. personal espresso maker as well. the tv is abit outdated for a jr suite. even cheap motels use flat screen nowdays. but free movie dvd rental.

toilet - quite spacious, bathtub & different shower, really large overhead showers. almost perfect.

location - 5 minutes walk to klcc. 5 minutes to zouk kl (not many nightclubs in kl operates with license till 4am). and the hotel offer FREE shuttle daily to petronas twin towers, shopping district, selangor pewter & china town at night. AMAZING service from the hotel. especially with the bad reviews from the local taxis. u can save a lot cash. good for security as well. i will post the schedule later.

service - friendly etc etc. normal for a 5 star hotel.

facilities - really good swimming pool / therapy spa. quite small for a big hotel. but one of the best i've been thoughout my years of travelling. will definitely come back just for the swimming pool / therapy spa.

breakfast - delicious. normal for 5 star hotel. but good choices.

good swimming pool, FREE shuttle daily (can really save a lot. trust me), friendly service, great room & toilet. truly deserve the tripadvisor awards. will be back soon!
