“Nice hotel, I recommend it!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

I've had a very nice time staying at Renaissance KL.
The room was big with view to the Petrona towers, very clean and comfortable.
Breakfast was also very good, with lots of options of local and western food.
Pool area was also very nice and staff was friendly.
The location is excellent, very close to the city center.
If I go back to KL, I will definitely stay there again.

Twin towers is just a walk away from this hotel. We stayed at the 22nd floor of this hotel and the view from the balcony is awesome. Just move the curtains to view the twin towers. It's more beautiful in the night. The breakfast is awesome and special mention to the bearer named Mr.Rasel, for serving the best tea. A Tamil restaurant just opposite to twin towers serves awesome food. For roaming around the city u can take the monorail which is just walkable and affordable to roam. Awesome stay

We always choose renaissance when we need pamper n good food. Love the high quality cotton bedding that make us just want to rest and relax in the room.. And the food especially at the vogue restaurant has so many varieties from east to west. Love the salmon baked with sea salt.. Yummy!

For a last minute biz trip, i booked for 3-night stay. Received email confirmation indicated that a West wing room is booked.

Upon check-in, my room booking was being 'upgraded' to an EAST wing suite room. Did not want to make fuss and took the room, as cancellation was not allowed.

To my horror, the room condition is the worst that I could imagine: fallen off sockets, wet & dusty carpet, towel with holes, worn out furniture etc. Again, I did not want to make fuss, but at that point i was doubtful and actually went online to double check if Renaissance is a '5-star' hotel.

Then, I turned on the water tap of the bath tub, the water was muddy brown color. I called the "Delighted to Serve" hotline several times but nobody answered. Went down to front desk and checked out a slightly lower floor room but the bath water is still brownish. I changed to the lower floor room nonetheless.

To wrap up the bad experience, there was minibar consumption claim that surprised me. The front desk was quick to agree on waiving it but that makes me wonder either the hotel staff made mistake or any one was able to sneak into the room while i was out at work.

Conclusion, I paid 5-star price for a 2-star room and service. I promise myself that I will not return to Renaissance KL hotel.

Thank you for your review and we have taken note of your comments regarding the hotel product.

Your feedback is extremely important to us and we have shared this with our owner and shareholders. We are pleased to inform you that there are plans in place to upgrade and renovate the hotel.

We are truly sorry on the water issue as Syabas (City Water Provider) shut down four (4) water stations which interrupted water supply to certain parts of the city and Selangor during the period of your stay.

Please allow us to express our sincere apologies for the shortfalls in service standards you experienced whilst staying with us and we felt dismayed that we were not able to meet your expectations.

As to the mini bar consumption, our Front Desk Associates are empowered to act based on your feedback of no consumption made by you, hence, immediately waived the charges from your bill and this was the result of a posting error.

Once again, our deepest apologies for all the inconvenience caused and sincerely hope we will have another opportunity to be of service to you and make it right for your next stay.

Yours sincerely,
Robert Frager

The hotel is located within KLCC and walking distance to the Petronas Towers and Suria shopping Mall. We stayed in a suite facing the Petrons- pay the extra for the amazing sight that'll greet you each time you pass the window. The night views are out of this world- Petronas on one side and the Menara on the other.
The rooms are huge and light with huge beds- the most comfortable pillows and duvets. A section of the room is a dining area which is spacious. The bathroom is huge too with a separate bathtub and a shower big enough to fit 5 people!!!!
Breakfast is a very lavish affair. Book it from here- it's cheaper. They offer a variety of cultural breakfasts catering for many nationalities. There are too many stations to name them all but a few are: breads and bakery, all American, Chinese, Malay, Indian, yoghurts & exotic fruit...there's even a chocolate fountain!!!! The head chef is a great guy who walks around making sure all the diners are enjoying their breakfast.
The pool is one of the largest in KL and is a great place to relax.
The monorail is 2 mins walk away and very cheap.
Hard Rock Cafe's rooftop was visible from our room and next to the monorail station.
The area around the hotel has some construction work going on but it's not a disturbance...in fact quite interesting as we have been there two years in a row and enjoy watching the building work progressing.
Location wise this hotel is brilliant as everything is walking distance, short taxi ride or monorail ride away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in East Wing facing the Petronas Towers.
