“A good hotel for the money in a very convenient location for everything in KL”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

Hotel Capitol is not without it's faults - room service is pretty poor (wrong food, cold food, no food), the lifts didn't always work, the rooms are really quite small and it's on a side/back street that's not too impressive to look at from your window.

However, Hotel Capitol is: clean, cheap, accessible, the staff are friendly and the beds are comfy.

If you need a base to spend a few days in KL then I can't recommend Hotel Capitol highly enough. I'm returning to KL in June 2013 and the only reason I'm not booked into the Capitol again is because they're not showing any availability for the dates I want to book for, so I'm staying in the Times Square hotel.

we stayed in the capitol deluxe hotel (corner room) on the 11th floor. hotel staff was great, we were allowed to so called check in and get the room number at 12pm, but only were allowed up the room after 3pm. The room had a deep and long bathtub, coupled with a combined shower that had very very very very strong pressure. The bathroom also has a seperate shower. Toiletries provided were ear buds, razor, emery board, comb, shower cap, sanitary pad, and surprisingly, shoe polish. They also had a pair of cheap slippers, iron and ironing board, and items for praying for Muslims. The bathroom had a nice view of the twin towers, and the windows were floor to ceiling. The closet for clothes lights itself up when opened, but not the one where they keep the electric kettle, glasses, cups, safe and refreshment sachets. Green tea, cameronian tea and house coffee was provided. The mattress was a spring mattress. Temperature control was great, and the views from the room was great too. the Menara KL and twin towers could both clearly been seen. Past reviews citing a noisy bar also proved to irritate me, even from the eleventh floor. There were 3 convenience stores at the doorstep of the hotel, and it was 5 minutes away from bukit bintang monorail. Outside the hotel lobby, there will generally be taxis around waiting, remember to bargain. taxis with the smiley face on the windscreen all use meters as they are truly certified. Room service was great, although it took 10-15 minutes for them to deliver. We asked for a bottle of chilled water, although off menu, were provided, and their teo chew porridge was above average. There was also a great variety of food items. The flat screen television in the room generally had sports channels and local channels, they also had their own stereo channel which played songs that could be found on the charts, and they are english. Their lifts required the key card to be slotted in, and they had four lifts, remember that when you are on one of the floors with rooms, to press for the lift on two control panels, one on the right most, and one of the other ones, as they work on seperate circuits. We were given wifi access, which we did not use, but it had a unique pass and user code. generally, the hotel is best in value and location.

Room Tip: choose rooms with higher floors and choose corner rooms. Try room service food.

(1) Fast check in upon arrival (reserve in advance)
(2) Room is not very big, but enough space for you to put luggage.
(3) Clean Room & toilet but without toothbrush & toothpaste, you have to bring your own. Shampoo & soap provided.
(4) The room would be dark at night, not enough light to support the whole room.
(5) Car park provided at opposite shopping mall which is not so convenient but better than some other hotel in the same area with the same price which do not provide any parking lot.
(6) A convenient hotel to shopping area, Lot 10, Sungei Wang, Pavillion, all within walking distance.
(7) At night, you may have your dinner at Jalan Alor which is a long street with all local food. The chicken wings in the end of the road is highly recommended.
(8) Fast check out.
(9) Overall this is a good value hotel in Bukit Bintang.

I looked at many hotels in this area that were too expensive for me(5 star hotels) so when I found the Capitol and saw that was a nice hotel with a good price I grabbed it.
I was impressed as soon as I entered the lobby when I was greeted cheerfully by reception who were very friendly and professional. The check in was was quick and I was given free wi-fi for the room which was a nice touch.
My room on the 18th floor was very clean and was in very good condition for an older hotel(I believe they have renovated). The view was great and the room was comfortable with everything I needed.
Even on the 18th floor I could hear the band in a nearby bar until about 1 AM but I didn't mind as I enjoy the sounds of a bustling city and the rest of the night was very quiet after 1 AM.
Breakfast the next morning was good; there was plenty to choose from and the staff were very helpful and pleasant.
There are a couple of shopping malls nearby as well as restaurants, coffee shops etc. I was able to walk to the Petronas Towers from the Hotel in about 30 minutes. The location of the Capitol is excellent as anything you need is nearby and it is a very busy area.
Checkout was a breeze and there is a taxi stand right across the street.
I stayed there for 2 nights and what impressed me most was the consistently helpful attitude of the staff. Anytime I needed something they were very helpful and made me feel welcome.
I will be recommending the Capitol and definitely be staying there again when in Kuala Lumpur.

Room Tip: The higher the room the less the street noise.

The location of the hotel is very good but there are many other hotels at the same vicinity. The room is very small with run down furniture and old TV. The bathroom is large compared to the size of the room. It will be worth it to pay an additional USD 10 - 20 for a much nicer room within the vicinity. The buffet breakfast is average with wide varieties of food. I will not stay here anymore.

We stayed in this hotel back in February 2012 for 2 nights. It was a relaxing stay. The room was beautifully furnished. The main reason we stayed here is the location - in the heart of Bukit Bintang. Near to main shopping malls and all kinds of restaurants. 5-10 minutes walk to the fantastic Pavilion Shopping Mall and from there a 20-30 mins walk to KLCC Suria through a covered air conditioned walkway. What more can we ask for? Capitol Hotel - place to stay without worrying about traffic to meet to your shopping needs.

Fourth time in KL and third stay at this hotel. Basically my high rating is due to value for money and location of this hotel. There are those who would have quibbles about noise and cigarette smells which I understand but I believe this is more than made up for by the positive attributes of the Capitol.
This time we had 'corner rooms' which were on the 16th floor and again looking out towards the iconic Petronas Towers. Unfortuanately there is now a nondescript building that partially obscures the view of one of the towers (southern?). The rooms themselves were very pleasing being roomy and well maintained. They were serviced each day and we had no problems at all with housekeeping.
Check in was smooth and all front office staff were pleasant. Anything we asked for was handled with a smile and their level of english is coming on; much better than my malaysian. I would recommend this hotel to anyone except those who are totally allergic to cigarette smell. Unfortunately smoking in Aisa is still quite prevalent and there is a stale smoke smell on most floor levels.

Room Tip: Ask for as high up as possible. This still dose not preclude street noise but it helps. Noise never...
