Stayed for 3 nights , was initially hesitant due to some poor reviews here but was overall pretty happy with the qaulity of the hotel. I had an outside facing room on the 11th floor overlooking low yat plaza and didn't notice any great amount of outside noise. The room was massive with a giant king size bed and while I agree it was a little tired it was clean and well serviced. Staff are friendly and helpful and it is probably the best location in KL for access to shopping and all standards of eateries. Had a meal in the revolving restaraunt which was absolutely superb qaulity and quite reasonably priced.

Federal may not be the best hotel in town but it is a nice decent hotel in a good location.
No doubt there are lots of prostitution around but thats part of Bukit Bintang.
You cannot blame the hotel for that.
It is a high average hotel with very good location just next to the IT mall.
Would love to stay there again

The Federal is in a good location in Bukit Bintang and surrounded by restaurants and shopping centres. It is close to the monorail/sky train, only a few minutes walk away. It is a good 20 minute walk to the night markets in petaling street and about a 30 minute walk to KLCC if you don't want to get a taxi.
The hotel has good security and customer service is of a good standard. The hotel needs to be refurbished thought as parts of it are a little out dated. The rooms are fantastically big, couldn't complain about that.
The hotel is popular with Chinese tourists who would arrive in groups each morning. It's a bit like after Christmas sales in department stores.

Hotel reception was not friendly and not helpful. Prior booking with hotel but was told that the rooms were not ready when checked in at the hotel at 2PM. Came back at 6PM and was told that the rooms were still not clean as the clearners are taking their 1 hour dinner break! No apology, nothing! Rooms were tired looking and olds. Be warned that some rooms (facing inside) do not have views; avoid these rooms. Rooms at their sister hotel 'Capitol Hotel' is much better, newer and cheaper.

I stayed twice in that hotel, the first time around 5 years ago, the another, recently. The hotel just getting worse in service and more deteriorated by time. Upon arrival, my wife was greeted cold by the receptionist, who act like the one who had tendered resignation letter. Later, we found that the room was ok, clean, and tidy. Anyway, for a hotel with the RM450++ per night, the room is far too small, compared to the other hotel around Bukit Bintang area.

For being a stary hotel, we did put some expectation on the breakfast and lunch (we took our lunch there). However, the cook had failed to impress us anyway. The attendants there were slow and not attentive as well.

The hotel swimming pool looked old in design and very noise caused by the traffic from Low Yat Plaza, and the air was dirty as well as the pool is located outside the building.

Furthermore, the carpark for the hotel is far down the Low Yat Plaza. We have zero privacy and previlege by sharing the carpark with the shopping complex, and, you guest what, the exit of the car park is in the shopping complex, which is 100 meters away from the hotel.

Well, another bad comment from me, just hope that, if you wish to stay somewhere near Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur, just opt for others. They are plenty of hotels out there, far more better than this one for you.

My very personal opinion, the hotel can survive just because of the excellent location.

Hotel seemed to be in a red light district. Room was shabby. Window looked into an internal shaft - no natural daylight. Disco every night kept us awake until around 3 a.m. One of the worst hotels I have every stayed in.

I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and hated it but thought I would give it another go - WRONG! The rooms are shabby, my room was next to the mall so music was playing extremely loudly until 11pm and the beds were rock hard. I should have just brought along a sleeping bag and slept on the floor in the mall!
