If you are travelling to KL with young family, and you want to shop, there is no better location - while there is a kids club we took our 5 year old shopping everyday but with the central location it was easy to drop back when we needed to. The 'living room' dining was a great way to eat in house and being opposite the Pavillion (shopping complex)meant we coudl easily get take out too. The staff were friendly and attentive and they could even cater for my child's nut allergy. Well done Westin! You will see us again

I stayed one night during a conference which was held in the hotel. Room booking was done by an events management company. Unfortunately I just came back from the Sheraton Shanghai which is a sister hotel and the difference between the 2 hotels is so glaring. Counter staff busy and preoccupied. Room smells of smoke and pillow smells. The "heavenly bed " sank in certain parts. The room is stayed in is no 1606 and perhaps need some refreshing. Parking lots very narrow and I had difficulty parking my mpv. Swimming pool was also closed. Otherwise location great and a haven from the terrible traffic congestion all around.

Good things: Check-in was efficient (although we did arrive at 1.30 am so it's a little hard to assess how efficient it would have been at a busier time) and the entrance to the hotel is spacious.
Room service was prompt, and the staff were always eager to please and very helpful. I would say that at times this could be a bit much - to have three different people ask you if you want a coffee when you're sitting down to breakfast can be overpowering, but I suppose that's something to do with the level of service they're aiming to provide. The food itself is very good (although the selection of beer didn't seem that wide) - in particular the coffee here is excellent (that might be personal taste - personally I think Illy is great).
The room itself is a good size, with a good view across the city from the large window. It would have been nice to have another chair in the room though.
Not so great:
Breakfast selection is not bad, but the layout is rather trying - you've got to walk a long way to find the breads, and then go in a different direction to get an omelette, a third direction for Malaysian food, etc. I suppose they're stuck with the physical arrangement of it all, but it does feel a little cramped.
Peeves:
Lifts seem a little slow. There's only 4 to serve more than 30 floors of the hotel. Also, the keycard used to make the lift work doesn't always seem that reliable - sometimes you'd swipe the card and have no response from the console in the lift.
Room service only runs from 6am to 11; as a consequence of working strange hours and being selfish, I'm used to being able to order a meal at any time. Since KL seems to shut down in general quite early, perhaps this is just reflective of that.
Room amenities - although the bed is wonderful (sorry, "heavenly" as the brand would have it) as in other Westins, other parts of the room aren't quite up to par; television is a fairly old and quite large CRT rather than a flatscreen. This is a really small thing and probably sounds like nitpicking for the sake of it, but the light in the wardrobe is quite flickery and takes time to come on. I guess I'm getting too accustomed to luxury hotels if I can complain about this. (In any case, looking out the window at the city is probably more rewarding than watching TV all night.)
All in all I'd have to rate this as average for a 4.5 star hotel; quite possibly I've been spoilt by other Westins elsewhere and have a heightened sense of what I should be getting.

Had a great experience staying at the Westin, fantastic location, service excellent, rooms were really great especially the beds. Min and the staff at the Executive Lounge were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Would definately stay again if we get the chance.

Stayed for 3 nights in a Petronas Tower view room. Check-in was speedy and efficient. Staff at all areas were excellent.
Our room was OK, but there was a large water mark in the floor boards, carpet and wall paper. Obviously there had been a serious leak in the wall from the bathroom plumbing. Though no active leak was visible at the moment, I think a so-called 5 star hotel should have had all signs of the problem fixed before using the room again.
The funishings in the room were all a bit tired and marked. But the bed was excellent.
The pool was under renovation (we were not informed in advance at time of booking) but we could go next door to the Marriot and use theirs - didn't bother.

My family enjoyed our stay at the Westin KL. The staff are it's greatest asset- could not fault them. The rooms are very good (especially the beds!) as are the spacious bathrooms. Make sure that you get breakfast included in your stay- one of the best breakfast that I have ever had in a hotel. The location is also first class.

This was our second stay at The Westin KL, we had a two day stay on our way back to NZ and stayed in a one bedroom apartment, We were so impressed with service, apartment, location and especially breakfast/food when we wanted to spend a month in KL it was our first choice. So we called the hotel and got some long stay rates as we now had two children and wanted a bigger room. There were a few calls back and forth to nut out the details but in the end it was all sorted out. So we headed to KL for a month stay...

When we arrived the reception was awesome, we were greated by two staff our luggage handled and taken to our two bedroom apartment immediately. Which after travelling with two kids is priceless. But when we got to our room we were disappointed the standard to which we experienced previously was not there. The room had no view (looked on to the building next door), the kitchen had no windows most unpleasant i have ever seen, the furniture was damaged (TV stand had a glass top which was broken in one corner dangerous) to cut it short we were not happy campers so we complained. They agreed with all we said immediately and went to see what they could do, came back with many options (ie two one bedroom rooms etc) which we were not happy with as we were going to be there for a month and didn't want two kitchens etc would rather a big apartment . So after some calls they found us a room which was to be renovated (floors polished) but if we were happy we can have it. The manager took me to the room (all this time the staff were more then helpful) the room was awesome what i expected to get when i booked. spacious, well furnished, views of the towers, good size kitchen, as a bonus it even had a laundry (washer dryer) with two kids is extremely helpful and saved heaps on laundry. So a bit of a complicated start but the staff handled it very professionally and with two grumpy kids by the time we settled in our room my partner and i were not upset but impressed with service/staff.

The rest of our stay was great, location is handy with the new shopping center across the road (all the big brands & great food court) and the easy walk to the towers/shopping center, a short walk takes you to all the local shopping centers where u can spend hours browsing.

Our stay was also made kiddy free at times by their very unique Kids Club. We had an hour included every day in our room rate which we made good use off. The kids loved it made friends with other long stay guests kids. The ladies who work there Aunty Ann and Aunty Cindy we very good with the kids. They also offer night time baby sitting, very easy to book through the kids club, I've tried this at other hotels which always ends up being a hassle but first time it was easy and I didn't have to give days notice.

Breakfast every morning was a treat, with fresh cooked eggs, waffles and hotcakes, freshly made smoothies, amazing selection of bakery items, fresh fruit/veg juices, great coffee, and many yummy treats which changed daily . Lets say 30 mornings i was still excited to go down to breakfast! Room service was a bit hit and miss, had some great pizza, but disappointing salads.

The pool is nice but the air conditioning unit from next door can be annoying, but considering the location and having checked out next others i think its OK. We still had a good time by the pool and having a kids pool was a bonus. The Gym is excellent ( which u need to visit after breakfast) well equipped, well maintained and clean, and the staff helpful.

Room cleaning was excellent... timely and through. I even lost my diamond earring which the cleaner found and put on my bedside table.

So overall i will go there again, they go out of their way to make your stay a good one & i think its great value for money, excellent facilities if you are travelling with kids and again the breakfast is the best ever! I wish i could remember names of staff to mention but I must be getting to old.
