The Westin Kuala Lumpur
Ranked #26 of 349 Hotels in Kuala Lumpur
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 12, 2014

We stayed at the Westin KL as our friends recommended it to us, due to it's excellent location. And it was! Right across the Pavilion Mall and on Bukit Bintang we didn't go short on options to dine or have a simple coffee. Also, if you're staying in this area, don't forget to visit Jalan Alor at night, just to enjoy the atmosphere, eat or snack on some local foods and fruits.
The hotel is already more than a decade old, but they managed to preserve the level of luxury. Of course, some things could be updated, for example the bathroom (especially the toilet) and the swimming pool area. We found the pool area a bit outdated and not really clean. The towels were old, the lounge cushions we're stained and there we're bugs in and around the pool. Also, it's quite noisy from some type of machine humming hard...the music could not mask that.
Everything else was great. We booked a room with club access and the Club Lounge was excellent. We enjoyed the cocktail hour, as the snacks were quite tasty. Children are also very much welcome. The staff was very nice to them and our kids enjoyed the kids club and the lounge as well. Breakfast was good, as you could choose from three locations: the Living room, Chinese restaurant (where they serve pork) and the Club Lounge.
We also received a late check-out at 4 pm, as we requested one as we had an evening flight and could enjoy the Lounge for another half hour. Very much appreciated!

Greetings Ko_020

Thank you for taking up your friends' recommendation to stay with us and hope you have made the rignt choice.

In spite of our constant efforts to maintain the building, we are aware the hotel is indeed getting old. We do have intention to refurbish but unfortunately we are unable to communicate an exact time at this point in time.

As for sighting of bugs around the pool area, we have already arranged for the Pest Control company to carry out fumigation. The noise is from the blower of an adjacent building - regret to note that we are unable to do anything about this and hope you understand.

Once again, your feedbacks are greatly appreciated and look forward to your return soon.

Take care and be well

Booked two rooms in this hotel for a recent family trip, rooms were not interconnecting but side by side. Rooms were of a great size and the hotel is in a very good location. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Breakfast was included in our package. There was a huge choice and the bakery was pretty good for a hotel chain. Did not eat at any of the restaurants in the hotel as there were lots of great places to choose from within walking distance.
The only thing that was a let down was the layout of the lobby, very ordinary for a hotel of this calibre.
Would definitely stay here again.

We spent five nights at the Westin over the Easter period and found it to be excellent, great location just a couple of minutes walk to the main shopping area! 10 minute walk to Time Square! The rooms are large and very comfortable! We had the need to call reception on a couple of occasions and they were there to fix our small problem within minutes! The breakfast is amazing, huge choice of dishes and a great bakery! It does cost a little extra but it was well worth it!

As part of the Westin hotel you can expect the standards and service associated with a 5 star hotel and they do not disappoint
The tapas menu offered is fantastic both in choice of food, quality and price we tried several and loved them all
This is a venue that does not get busy and noisy until quite late but we enjoyed the bar and attentive service from 5-7pm most days
Happy hour is a very happy time for 5 hours from 5pm until 10pm – the service from the guys here deserves a special mention- they are all professional, friendly and efficient and made our daily visits all the more enjoyable- thanks to the Westin for offering these promotions
This is a great option an end of the day celebration venue spacious and well kept – the only thing you might notice is the noise from the exhaust fans from the adjacent building

Stayed here in March on a conference. Good hotel, largish rooms, nice bathroom. Good location in what I think is called the Golden Triangle, opposite a large shopping centre.

Stayed in one of the Executive Rooms I think which entitled me to use of the executive lounge which was very useful for coffees, soft drinks and even some alcohol, so would reccommend that.

Not very close to public transport - but didn't want to use it anyway !

Interesting late night bar with a live band nearly every night as far as I could tell, but not easy to find from within the hotel !

Overall just what you would expect from a good executive hotel in SE Asia; not quite the top notch, but also a pretty good price

Room Tip: Go for Exec rooms with access to teh club or whatever it's called.

The Westin is a good business hotel with high turnover. Good quality and wide variety of food and beverage selections. Great service. Located just across from the premium mall Pavilion. Perfect for business travelers and tourists. The rooms are stale and geared toward business guests, so if you want something more luxurious, another 5 star hotel would be best. I booked a suite and wanted to stay for a week; however, after switching suites twice, I am convinced that house keeping cannot keep up with the high turn over. The bathrooms all smell, there was always hair in the bath tubs or something in the room had been used or not thoroughly cleaned. If your priority is business or shopping, you just want a basic room, this Westin is good.
