“Good hotel, central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

we stayed at the Melia for 3 nights and the the hotel was everything you would expect from a Melia hotel. The location is very central, opposite the Times Square shopping mall and close to the malls on Bukit Bintang. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable and if you get a front room you have a view over the Times Square. There is also a monorail station just outside the hotel, so you do not have far to go to use the transport system.

Breakfast offered a wide selection of western and local foods, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a pool on the 2nd floor, but only gets sun for the middle part of the day. It was quiet both days when we used it, so no problem with getting a sun bed.

The only complaint was that check in was a bit on the slow side (not what you want after a long flight). Apart from that, a good location for a KL stop-over.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room facing Times Square.

The ambience of the hotel is good. the bedroom is large however the
bathroom is a bit small. it's hard to close the door as there is not much standing
space. the gym and swimming pool are well kept. the location is the best,
close to Bukit Bintang.

Upon checking in, I requested to have king size bed for both rooms and that trainee at front desk acknowledged my request. However, when I entered the room, I realised that she still gave us connecting room. I then went back to the front desk and confronted her whether did she understand my request. She then explained the there was no available room with king size bed at that moment. She should have told me earlier and offer me to make request for a room change on my 2nd day of stay. Very unprofessional.

This is my 4th stay with Melia and 2 out of these 4 stays ended up with bad experience. The aircon also very weak.

I booked our room through the hotel website, giving us 30% discount and 30RM/day/person to spend at the hotel restaurant and lounge--a good deal! Although there are cheaper alternatives, the hotel is worthy cent.

I chose the hotel primarily because of its location. It's right next to the Imbi Station, which is within the shopping mall district, Bukit Bintang. There's a 7-eleven next door, a Starbucks, and Berjaya Times Square is across the hotel. It's walking distance to the hawker food street, Jalan Alor, and popular shopping malls like the Pavilion and Lot 10.

The second reason why we liked the hotel is the breakfast buffet. They have a wide selection, ranging from Asian, Indian, Continental, etc. They even served mini steaks one morning! We actually saved a lot of food money during the day because of the heavy brunch we ate.

Although the hotel is not new, the rooms are spacious and sheets were clean and comfy. There are newer hotels, but I've done my research and you can't get a better value with the room size, location and breakfast. Check-in/out was fast, and the crew at the restaurant and lounge were pleasant. The only downside, in my opinion, is the lack of free internet.

All in all, we had a very nice stay at the Melia and would definitely want to stay there again.

Just returned from a 2 night stay . Booked an executive club floor room . Well worth the extra $50 through Agoda. Stayed on the 13th floor with all day access to the Executive Lounge. This was fantastic in itself and offered free alcohol between 5 and 7 pm daily. Aside from this and the nice food on offer the room itself in the Melia was well appointed and peaceful. The buffet breakfast had a great range to choose from and was a nice venue to eat at. The luggage holding service was invaluable with regard to having a late flight out and this was greatly appreciated. Hotel location is great with monorail virtually at the door step . I got to the airport from here for 13RM - monorail and Aerobus - wish I'd known this last time. Great hotel if you want to shop , in the centre of all the malls and don't forget the indoor theme park across the road with Roller Coaster etc 48RM adult entry fee all rides included. Yes this was a very good hotel and I would definitely return again. One small hiccup was the check in with only 2 people serving I had to wait 15 mins which could be frustrating after a long international flight. More staff on the counter would have upgraded my review to excellent 10 out of 10.

Location of hotel is directly opposite Times Square which is very convenient fr shoppers. It is just a few minutes walk to the Imbi Station. For a 4* hotel, the hotel does not provide Internet connection to its guests unless you pay for it. I stayed in a 3* hotel nearby and Internet connection was provided.

Dear hawkuan,

Thank you for have chosen and staying with us at Melia Kuala Lumpur.

With regards to your above concerns, I am pleased to shared that we have taken note of your comments on the provision of complimentary Wi-Fi service. Due to the high cost of quality bandwidth in Kuala Lumpur most city hotels charge for Wi-Fi according. Charges will be apply for in-room internet access for regular room accommodation. Guests who choose to stay on our Premium rooms and our Executive Club rooms, do receive complimentary internet access.

However, we will continue to review our pricing policy on a routine basis as part of our benchmarking analysis to ensure we are in keeping with the market situation.

Last but not least, thank you for your feedback and reviews.
