“Lovely Place to Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012

Great place, We stayed here via a sportsnet trip with the MotoGP. Breakfast was sensational. Something for everyone, Eggs cooked while you watch.
Only problem, No free WIFI and what they offered was too expensive.

The hotel is in the midst of a transformation from a Nikko to an InterContinental property. Much renovation is done, but some areas still need to be touched. Service is earnest, but sometimes uneven. Very hard to get a second cup of coffee during the breakfast buffet as staff is busily clearing tables and is not always attentive. A great property and location near KLCC. Rooms are large and well appointed.

I stayed here in late September after have read many mixed reviews from several forums. I can personally say they take care of RA's, following the two level upgrade system. I was put into an Ambassador suite, which were very nice, views of the tops of the PETRONAS Towers.

Check-in took about 30 seconds, straight to the room. We realized that I needed and additional bed due to a friend accompanying me on this trip. Bed was in the room in 3 minutes, welcome gift and fruit waiting and personal service that rivals several of the other better IC's. Nice welcome fruit plate ect. The room was huge and in good condition, these rooms are scheduled to be updated later in the year as the whole hotel is under renovation(several floors at a time). The ongoing work doesn’t seem to affect anything as I never saw it....

Club lounge was nice, several beers including Guinness and several wines. Very empty on the weekend.....huge plus. Service in the lounge was very good, Apps that were out were Ok, but the chef made apps were very good. Breakfast buffet was good, but had limited western fare, but plenty to choose from.

I was hesitant booking initially but would return and I like the location and believe the hotel in on the right track!

One comment, is its time to step up the minibar(need some mini's or wine)

Room Tip: I suggest club to anyone who enjoys a glass of wine, as KL is expensive for drinks!

.I have recently returned to Scotland after our holiday. we had booked 2 nights in the Intercontinental intending to fly to Phuket for a further !2 nights ,,returning for one night prior to our flight home.Unfortunately on out first night,, just after arrival, i sustained a spontaneous epistaxis, exaccerbated by taking warfarin , a blood thinning agent.which neccesitated me spending 5 nights in the Gleneagles Hospital.May i say. the attention given to my wife in this traumatic time went i feel above and beyond expectations.in particular Anne ,,Duty night Manager Whose calm control, and assistance to my wife was exemplary.allowing her access to the computers to inform insurances, and family members Next night on her return from hospital she was assisted by Calvin, a concierge. She was assisted over 3 hours by this efficient thoughtful young man in rearranging travel arrangements and insurance enquiries..Please convey my personal thanks for outstanding service at that stressful time The large beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered to my hospital bed by a concierge ,was most thoughtful and greatly appreciated..However sirs, you are to congratulated on a level of services.an excellent trained staff at all levels , from domestic up to ambassador suite level.Being under orders not to continue our travel to Phuket we elected to stay the remaining time,12 nights in room 1227 allowing us access to the facilities upstairs.I have been fortunate to stay in some of the best hotels worldwide ,but your facilities and certainly staff, are unbeatable. If i may mention 2 others for special meritorious service.young Qayyuum our waiter in the ambassador suite was attentive ,polite and helpful.the other , the irrepressible Mr Shaharuddin abd,,Manan,,swimming pool supervisor,, whose unfailing cheerfulness,, assistance and service was of the highest order. I stayed for 4 nights in IC KL in a holiday. Firstly check in was very quick and I upgraded to a VIP room after giving me this offer. I liked the room too much, simply it is perfect. Spacious and very well furnished, and having very comfortable bed. As well I liked the staff there, they are extremely helpful and welcoming even when I was asking for things at late night. My best experience in the hotel is with the concierge and with the breakfast. Concierge has really exceeded all my expectations ! I really felt that someone is trying to seek how I can enjoy my stay in all ways. As well the breakfast was very very good, having very different varieties and they are all perfect.

In brief, I highly recommend staying in Intercontinental KL !

The hotel is bang in the middle of the business district and stone's throw from the famous PETRONAS Twin Towers. So this gets a -star for it's location.

The rooms are quite spacious and much larger than the rooms that you would get in other parts of the world for hotels of similar caliber. The breakfast buffet is a paradise for food lover and serves pretty much the needs for all international travelers. The staff is professional and friendly. The room tariffs are moderate and would give any 5-star property a run for it's money for the value that it provides for the amount they charge.

There is a compimentary shuttle service which allows you to get to nearby areas at regular intervals.

Intercontinental as a brand is large and the name should inspire confidence. This is the reason I had picked this hotel. However some very nagging issues prevents me from giving this hotel an Excellent rating.

The showers in some of the rooms do not have the option of mixing hot and cold water and even after explaining to the staff and engineering staff, this issue did not get rectified.

The room service menu isn't a treat for the Asian traveler. If you are fond of South East Asian cuisine or continental, then you will find that the in-room dining menu is quite palatable.

We stayed 4 nights recently and we found the hotel comfortable and we had really good and restful sleep. Their beds are soft and the linens are fresh and clean. The room is very clean and cannot be faulted. Good location too, there;s a shopping centre across the road, which you can access by using the subway station (ampang park station) to go across the other side. You'll also find a laundry service at the uppermost level of the shopping centre, it's about RM5 per kilo. Some good grub and souvenirs too. Short walk to Twin towers.
