I really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful hotel. It was clean, quite, and well decorated with nice furniture and awesome flower arrangements. It had a beautiful garden and the buffet was just phenomenal (loved the seafood options, all fresh and tasty). Great price for a REAL 5 star hotel with nice and helpful staff. The location was also very good for tourists. Very close to the Main malls (KLCC) which is a plus. I am not a big shopper, but in KL the mall is not just for shopping, it's good food, cool air, and shield from the tropical rain. The cultural center, china town and everything else is also a short taxi ride away. Would defensively recommend it.

Good five star property but a few minor things were annoying. First of all, I paid about $60 to $80 per night more than the five star competitors, I do regret that as it was not worth it. The TV had about 20 channels with poor reception, many towels had frayed edges, and the service around the pool was lacking. We asked the concierge to help us find dry ice as we were packing some food to take home and after a few hours they said they could not find a supplier. A hotel with Five restaurants can't talk to one of their suppliers to find dry ice? It seemed they just were not interested in helping on a minor request. Good points are the lobby lounge, especially the jazz band, and the friendly staff especially those working breakfast.

Stayed for a week on business - the staff are wonderful, very courteous and always have a smile for you. Location is spot on and close to monorail with quick access to shopping precinct and Petronas Towers a short walk. Gym is the best equipped hotel gym i've ever used. Breakfast buffet is excellent.

We stopped at the Shangri -la on our way to lombok for 2 nights. We booked this hotel back in April 2012 and enquired if we could book the kl tower for a meal back came the reply with a provisional booking for dinner window seat . Arrived and warmly greeted we looked around the lobby which was stunning that made us eager to see the room and we wasn't disappointed it was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was stunning I don't think I've ever seen so much choice it catered for everyone if your planning a stop over or even a stay the Shangri la is the place oh and it boasts a great pool.

Room Tip: Any room they're all spotless

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in the first week of January. In this very busy hotel you can be assured of the highest standards and for an unbelievably low price by international standards. The air conditioned rooms are clean and beds comfortable. The breakfast , which is buffet style,is phenomenal. You can have Indian meat or vegetable curries, a large range of Chinese food ,as well as international foods. You can eat yourself silly. This applies equally to the evening buffet which was unbelievable value at £20 per head. They provided pretty anything that you could possibly desire. We were well satisfied. However you would not want to eat there 4 nights running !!,
The hotel lies a short walk from the Petronas Towers and the huge upmarket shopping mall which lies in its shadow. The main shopping centres are only a short taxi ride away. There are two types of taxi The blue cabs are finer but twice as expensive as the ordinary taxis. Be advised that you should always take a taxi which has it's owners photo in the car and you should ask if he owns the meter. This way you will not get ripped off.
The swimming pool is fine but gets crowded
Summing up.. This is a fine tourist hotel with friendly and attentive staff

Stayed in room 1619 for the Chinese New Year getaway and the whole experience was great. Despite the place was running full, the staffs were all great and very patience. This is very true for the housekeeping staff as well and very professional. Lemon Garden Cafe was a good place for buffet with many local selections, plus some western dishes and the desserts were the best - with it's chocolate fountain, ice creams and tarts!

An area that might need some improvement is the tennis court. The ground was uneven and mouldy, it doesn't look 5-star at all. Might as well close it down if hard to maintain - the hotel is better off making it to something else, such as games area, bar, etc... Oh! Another thing, note to housekeeper) I have noticed the room was a bit dusty. More vacuming will help tremendously.

Location wise - strategically located as it is walking distance to KLCC and Pavilion/ Sungai Wang (roughly take 15-20 minutes stroll)

Will stay again for some quiet time despite the room being a bit pricey. Personally it was worth it and keep up with the great all round service.

Room Tip: Room 1619 has the back view and could see the KL Tower. Prefer this side, as it is quiet. For those...

Stayed for three nights in a Horizon Club Premier room. The hotel's about a 40-minute drive (65km) from the KL International Airport (KLIA). Got a Premier car (Bluebird Sylphy) from "Airport Limo" at a reasonable rate from within the airport itself.

The hotel is centrally located in KL, with easy access to Petronas twin towers, Menara KL tower, and Bukit Bintang (where good shopping is). The Bukit Nanas mono-rail station is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. We used the mono-rail to get to Bukit Bintang which was only two stations away. The hotel also offers a complementary shuttle service covering KLCC and Bukit Bintang shopping complexes at 10.30am, 12.00pm, 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 5pm.

The luxurious experience started right as we entered the hotel. It was smiles all around and was welcoming. The lobby itself is opulently beautiful. The cold hibiscus tea we were offered upon arrival was exotic and refreshing. Check-in at the front desk couldn't have been better or quicker. The all-smiles front desk person was nice enough to upgrade our Deluxe room to a Horizon Club room at a good rate - which included daily breakfast and gave us access to the Horizon Club lounge. My wife was given a lovely bunch of fresh roses as they knew we were there for our anniversary.

We got a room in the 22nd floor which overlooked the Petronas towers and the KL mono-rail. We only could see one tower as the other was behind it. Nevertheless it was a nice sight out of the window especially at night when the tower's lit up. We did faintly hear the bass sounds from the clubs in the street below but it never bothered us.

The room couldn't have been appointed better. It offered a king bed, tall window giving a great view, big flat-panel TV with DVD player, spacious office desk with comfortable chair, vanity with comfortable vanity stool, large safe which has space even for a laptop and more to spare, full-sized wardrobe, night lights, ironing board with iron, Nespresso machine with capsules of three coffee flavours, and complementary broadband. Attention to detail was impressive. The pillow menu was nice and the pillows were very comfortable. So was the bed. The mini bar items wee quite expensive. TV channel choice was limited.

A connection panel at the desk provides network connectivity, power outlets and various inputs to the TV (including HDMI). A neat box in the drawer provides cables (except HDMI and VGA cables) for easy connectivity. Internet connectivity was easy and broadband speed was good (both wired and Wi-Fi).

The bathroom isn't that big but is equipped with a bath and separate shower cubicle with a rain shower head. The L'Occitane toiletries add a special touch of luxury.

Breakfast at the Lemon Garden cafe offers variety from continental, Chinese, Malaysian to Indian cuisine and chocolate fountains. The food is good (butter croissants deserve a special mention) and the cafe was busy everyday though slightly less so on weekdays.

The Horizon Club lounge is in the first floor and is comfortable and spacious. The lounge offers tea and coffee with short-eats (mostly sweet) 3-5pm and spicy items and cocktails 5-7pm. Didn’t get to have breakfast at the lounge.

In-room dining dishes were delivered without delay and food was good. Prices are reasonable.

Service was flawless. All staff (including concierge) were very pleasant and did a great job. No request went unattended. They all genuinely seem very happy to be of assistance.

Booked a “Airport Limo” cab for departure since the hotel taxi charges nearly twice as much. While we had the option of checking out at the Horizon Club, we decided to do so at the front desk itself. Still, check-out was prompt and efficient as check-in had been. However, we did not get any assistance hauling our luggage to the taxi – which was the only hiccup in our great stay.

If you are looking for a luxury hotel with pleasant and helpful service and easy access to KL attractions and shopping, we highly recommend the Shangri-La.

Room Tip: Get a Horizon club room if you plan to spend most of your time at the hotel. Ask for a room overlook...
