We are regular travelers to KL and had stayed at several 5 star hotels in KL area in the last 20 years. I am truly impressed with the last stay at Hotel Istana which is right in the city center. You feel at home the moment you step into the hotel. especially the warm and genuine welcome by the staff. The rooms are good size and well equipped. Even the F&B outlets provide good food and warm hospitality at all times.
I will definitely be staying there for my future visits to KL.

Good hotel with a super location near to Bukit Bintang and just less than 5mins to Pavillion Shopping Mall. Friendly welcome from the Bellman and Guest Relation staff. During check-in, Receptionist didn't notice that I've booked a Club room which she said no only Deluxe room. After showing her hotel confirmation, she then realized it's wrong from hotel side so then she changed it to Club room. I went to the room and the room was so dark without a view and really small and thought this is not Club room. Called the Reception and asked to change the room and being asked to go to Club Lounge to get the room change. I'm so pleased to get a nicer room which I can call a Club room. All went ok afterwards. It was an unpleasant experience during check-in what I can say here.

First: This is not a cheap hotel, it is priced about USD 30 per night higher than others in its class.

However, for that extra cost, you get an experience that is excellent in every way. The rooms are well appointed, staff is great, location is good, etc.

The Hotel is centrally located and is easy to move around. The Monorail is just across the road and all the shopping and eateries are just a 5 min walk away.
The rooms are good and I always prefer to stay on the Executive Club floor. The team in the Club Lounge are great and always out to ensure that guests are very much at home. The Executive Club floor rooms are very spacious and comfortable though an upgrade would make those rooms superb!
There are also a variety of outlets for dining and the lobby lounge has some good music, though a bit too loud especially when one is trying to have a conversation.
The Sports Bar is good and the newly opened Indian restaurant is outstanding in terms of food!
Only one negative experience from my last stay was when a staff committed to deliver an item requested upon check in but it never came at all.

Room Tip: My request is always the rooms facing the road

The Hotel Istana is in an ideal location, it’s a 2 minute walk to the Bintang shopping mall & markets and 5 minutes to the Times Square shopping Mall & markets. It’s also approximately 20-25 minute walk to the PETRONAS Twin Towers and the KL tower.
Our first room (on the 3rd floor) was of a poor standard, the carpets and upholstery were filthy, we were advised by a member of staff to get a room from the 10th floor upwards as these were the most recently upgraded. We got the 19th floor, this was a great room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the 10th floor
